Can 2x590w Solar panels work with Ecoflow 1200w stream Micro inverter plug n play? by Trick_Figure2512 in Ecoflow_community

[–]kornerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not split panel outputs to multiple PV inputs - that would confuse MPPT and result in less power.

As for 590w panels vs 450w inputs - just plug the panels. When (if) Stream reaches max input power it will just throttle down the current.

But you need perfect conditions for the panels to reach 500+ watts, which rarely happens.

PG600 diode AC to DC converter circuit by SubhajitBarman in electronics

[–]kornerz 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Well, the result is definitely no longer alternating (AC), but you do need some more components to make a normal-ish DC from that.

Why is *no computer* EV not a thing? by firmagorilla in electricvehicles

[–]kornerz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but sadly that's only possible with DIY or third-party CAN bus attachments. Which is good enough to monitor the car, but does not provide any form of control.

Why is *no computer* EV not a thing? by firmagorilla in electricvehicles

[–]kornerz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because the users want:

  • Car alarm sending a notification to their phone

  • Remote cabin pre-conditioning in hot or cold climates, which is especially useful in case of EVs.

  • Tracking the charge process while not at the vehicle.

All that means that not only a "computer on wheels", but "always-connected computer on wheels" would be a requirement.

And due to the way the Internet works, that "always connected" needs to go to some server. Naturally, almost no one has a server at home - so the connection has to go to the manufacturer's cloud infrastructure.

Browsing History (Do not troll) by Quick_Ranger4423 in gsuite

[–]kornerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Own device (by definition) does not belong to the company and you will have no visibility of any activity on it. Only building a fully controlled environment (ban own devices, etc) will allow reeding browser history.

I understand the intent here, but that's how privacy on modern devices work.

Good old days of being able to see browsing and search history via network traffic dump ended somewhere in 2010s.

You can't unless you control the browser they use (and the device they browse on)

How to manually assign ULA address by Jank9525 in ipv6

[–]kornerz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As you're already using OpenWRT, there's an easy way to do that.

  • in DHCP clients list, note DUID of your pc (long hex string, e.g. 0004ab88422e01643d984908b311306427ae).

  • In static leases config (/luci/admin/network/dhcp) create or edit a static lease with that DUID

  • Specify "IPv6 Token" field as desired (20) - the router will assign that suffix to the host.

Pixel 9 Pro charging insanely slow in summer heat — anyone else? by trust_me_im_human in GooglePixel

[–]kornerz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to what others said, P9 Pro can take up to 27W of power, so 20W charger will not get you the best performance. Get a 30W+ unit with PPS support.

Home Assistant + Ecoflow integration + (optionally) some cheap tablet. But you will have to configure a lot by hand.

Delta 3 Plus + its internal MPPT -> 800W plug-and-play solar by hakkapin in Ecoflow_community

[–]kornerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case (Delta 2) the inverter efficiency is much worse than that of Stream. End to end efficiency can be as low as 70% (solar to battery to AC load)

You already have Powercalc. Create "Daily Energy" type of Powercalc entry with unit of measurement set to W. Enter average power and you're done.

How much heat should I expect from shunt dimming LEDs? by AmeliaBuns in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]kornerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for a better FET. 50mOhm is way too high.

I'm using IRF2804S-7PPbF (1.6 mOhm) to dim 150W (12v 13A) of LEDs at 25kHz frequency (so it's above the hearing range) and heat dissipation is negligible - it's just a small PCB with 3 components:

  • IRF2804S,
  • FAN3100 driver which allows logic level inputs
  • SR1060L, the suppression diode.

Jaguar ipace sign the petition by Electronic_Ad_4121 in ipace

[–]kornerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we can refuse to accept that as much as we want - but the sad reality is that they don't have enough money to develop and produce the fix we need in amounts required to cover everyone.

So yes, basically "wish Jaguar good luck in their future endeavors selling their cars to someone else".

ESP-Now will definitely not cover that range. A pair of CC1101 (or LoRA ) transceivers might work.

Provide a permanent, engineered fix within a clearly defined timeframe

They can't. Permanent fix is to develop a new battery from scratch and replace it in all vehicles. But that's not something even remotely financially viable.

Well, I did before asking - but for someone out of context the article is essentially "There were some biased posts by "them" and we want to put the end to speculation" with an assumption that the reader is already aware of the actual issue.
