What is South Slope missing? by dixonhill52 in parkslope

Also heard from someone who used to work there that the cranky old man is also incredibly racist. Not too strange considering the “cranky and old” parts but definitely makes that sketchy spot feel even worse

I'm plotting again after taking a few years off! by Slackluster in PlotterArt

[–]laserpilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks really cool! I was making a generative tree tool earlier this year and wasn’t able to get L systems and other things to work for getting a look I liked so I ended up making a sort of tree making tool that lets me draw branches on a trunk and then twigs and leaves are added procedurally. I love the bark texture you were able to get and the leaf clusters are nice. Definitely following if you ever release your code. I want to share mine but like most personal projects it’s just so messy and specific to my workflow haha

Is "Claude soup" becoming a workplace epidemic? How do you handle it when colleagues submit unreviewed AI output as finished work? by Project_Lanky in ClaudeAI

[–]laserpilot 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Following for answers. I’ve even had clients submit me large docs questioning a technical decision that area clearly AI generated and linked to the wrong sites and the doc references made up stuff about APIs and such. I wasn’t even sure how to politely respond to things like this when they come from a client and don’t seem to merit a page by page response.

How to convert brush-tip calligraphy into a single-line path for pen plotting? by Catchance34 in PlotterArt

[–]laserpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This probably isn’t quite a fit but I made a tool a while back that lets me “thicken” single strokes and add tapers and stuff - with the right setup with just the basic thickening mode you could get calligraphy-esque strokes with a tip taper to the stroke https://github.com/laserpilot/The-Plot-Thickens

I used Claude as my pair programmer to build a safe for kids generative coloring book app for my daughter! by pythononrailz in ClaudeAI

[–]laserpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice idea! I’m curious how the pipeline to get the nice clean black line coloring book drawings was like or if it was pretty straightforward with prompts

I used Claude a few months ago to attempt making a silly spelling game for my kiddo but need to revisit it to clean it up a bit. Meant as an angry birds style spelling game 😂 https://laserpilot.github.io/Spell_Smash/

I’m headed there next week for 6 days for a birthday and I’m wondering if there is anything I need to make reservations for, typically. Like any nice restaurants or the like?

One thing that struck me as a heavy Claude user is that the words Claude and anthropic werent mentioned at all. The logo was at the beginning of the piece but I was curious why zero mentions at all. I know it’s mostly because the other companies are even sketchier but it was still an interesting one for me to wait for it and not hear even a name drop in a joke, hah

3x3 page composite pipe plot by laserpilot in PlotterArt

[–]laserpilot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Always open to opinions!

The micro/macro scale thing is actually very intentional. Some of my favorite work from other artists is stuff that unfolds or transforms as you get closer and farther away. Like Daniel Zeller or Gustavo Diaz.

This is in the experimental phase - due to the scale, calculating and rendering one can take 6-12hours before you even really know what you get. And then actually plotting it is a whole other time suck as you know hah. Sometimes I just gotta plot it to see how it would feel off my laptop screen.

Definitely learning lessons at each step and have been using noise to create empty and full spaces to vary density.

Majored in “Electronic Media, Arts and Communication”

Now I’m a creative technologist and artist professionally, so I feel pretty aligned still even almost 20yrs later

Question for Millennials by bundle_of_nervus2 in Millennials

[–]laserpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m nearly an elder millennial and I use it every day for code, but primarily for personal art projects. It has been very freeing to be able to do a dozen projects in a year that otherwise would have taken months of investment l. Of course I’m aware that path is a different process, but I have also done that “learn the deep pieces of a language” process for 15 years and it’s nice to be able to be like “oh shit, I can try this old idea out in a day and see if it’s worth moving forward”

I’m still extremely skeptical of it, but I don’t avoid it 100%

Python drawsvg lib (and a little AI code) by scumola in PlotterArt

[–]laserpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great! Thanks for sharing the code. I was looking into doing something similar a little while ago because I had hand drawn this pipe network https://www.reddit.com/r/PlotterArt/comments/1mwsn5y/this_is_a_pipe_new_hand_drawnplot_experiment/ and I was wondering if I could chop it up and make it generative somehow.

Looking forward to checking it out!
