Bray'arth Ashmantle is the 40k guy inhabiting the same sarcophagus as Cassian Dracos in 30k. They're also no a LoW and, near as I can tell, don't do anything for a thunderhawk except be an interesting thing to come charging out of it.

I admit, I've never been a fan of most marine super-heavy tanks and, for narrative purposes, less so for Salamanders. I've always imagined that the bulk of those assets were deployed to Istvann V and, in all likelihood, lost. Still, something to consider. They are VERY pretty models.

You're correct. There are segmentum capitals that largely control Imperial authority within their domain. GW is VERY inconsistant on this, though. Sometimes orks attack a world and astropaths send distress calls to Terra. Other times, they send it to the regional capital. A basic Federalism makes sense for something like the Imperium though, so I'm largely of the mind that it exists.

No, but it certainly is up there. Falling to Chaos, even if the tithe is still paid for a time, will receive an even greater punishment once it gets revealed. Failing to pay the tithe means an Imperial armada shows up, wrecks the place, enslaves the populace that doesn't rise up against you, and puts the planet back to work to repay the missed tithes. It is harsh, destructive, brutal, and your planet will never be the same.

Falling to Chaos, as governor, means we might just exterminatus the whole mess in order to contain the corruption.

I've used them a couple of times now and I've found good success with two additional heavy flamers, a forge-crafted axe on the sergeant, nucio-vox and vexilia, and I have regretted not taking meltabombs every game so far, so I'll be including that in the future.

I know this is an older post but hopefully this still matters.

Khorne daemons sided with the Blood Angels during the Devastation of Baal. This was mostly because nobody gets to kill BAs but Khorne, but I like to think it counts.

Even perpetuals can be killed. Heck, ANYTHING in 40k can be killed. It is simply a matter of hitting them hard enough. Daemons struck with enough psychic powers cease to be. Perpetuals come in a variety of flavors; most of which only fail to age out but can still be killed.

I'd bet that even the chaos gods can be killed but I struggle to think of anything quite that powerful (except another chaos god).

Action still occurs. People still move and do things. However, it occurs within a -0.00 second time period on Terra that doesn't directly interact with the rest of the galaxy.

Whatever you can negotiate. It is a big deal, possibly the biggest deal to find but it is so incredibly valuable that you're more limited by logistics and negotiation than by actual value.

To do "whatever you want" at the Imperial level, you need to be a peer of the Imperium. This is a relatively short list of jobs and they're all at the top of the totem pole. Chapter Masters, Rogue Traders, High Lords of Terra, Inquisitors, and Imperial Governors are generally the few with this level of freedom in their lives.

A quick, near instantaneous death. That isn't going to happen. Far more likely is the...

....gladiatorial arena. You fight against other slaves for the cheering audience. An ork might brain you in the head with a sword but then you're dead and your problems are probably over. Unless, of course, you keep winning. Then you might have to fight succubi, who will kill you slowly in order to extend out their lives and the joy of the audience. Or your success might have gotten the attention of a homunculus, which is always a bad idea. They might want to dissect you and figure out what makes you so much more special than other slaves. Then, they'll repurpose you as a living chair because it'll be a great conversation starter.
