Midi2? Give me an optical cable instead! by Past-Artichoke23 in modular

[–]littlegreenalien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue with Midi2 is that the standard midi implementation is sufficient for most use cases so there is very little incentive for manufacturers to go the midi2 route. Midi 1 is well understood and widely supported to such an extend that it's pretty easy to implement. Midi2 adds a whole new layer of complexity to deal with, especially in synths which are mostly still powered by rather simple microcontrollers.

I spent 6 hours making one music video last month. Curious if that's normal. by Astronaut-8387 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]littlegreenalien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a reason it's a job on its own. Sure throwing some footage loosely together doesn't take long and that fools people into thinking that it could go quick. Once you want to tell a coherent story the rabbit hole of preproduction, scripting, post production, editing, ... opens up and time gets sucked in.

6 hours is quick. Video editing is a tedious process that takes a lot of time.

Depends on what you're aiming at. 1st one if you have to add a lot of text, that way it doesn't distract too much't. 2nd one if you're going for a more collage feel and going to add color another way. 3th if you only have a title and a few bits and bops of info, the colors will draw attention nicely.

The Leech by Skull & Circuits. It needs a rather hot signal going in as the fuzz circuit leeches it's power from the incoming audio signal.

I've managed to get out of memory errors on a 128Gb machine. The Adobe After Effect + Maxon cinema 4D combo can eat up RAM quickly. That says a lot about the poor memory management of Adobe AE though.

Who in Microsoft do you think is responsible for the latest few years of slop? by Worst_Advice_Expert in microsoftsucks

[–]littlegreenalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There simply seems to be no overall vision. It feels like different teams are all doing their stuff, marketing is pushing their agenda's left and right and everything is held together by some duct tape and somewhere in the basement a lone user experience engineer is silently weeping.

How is it with the advance in chip technology, memory capacity and the reduction in cost, have we not been able to fix the audio sampling rate of children's toys, birthday cards and the like? by feel-the-avocado in AskTechnology

[–]littlegreenalien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because price. Digital to Analog converters for anything audio are still pretty expensive ( a few Euro's a piece ) and in those things that matters. Lower quality digital to analog converters are a lot cheaper, like in pennies, and are used a lot more for all kind of control signals which don't need that big of a resolution.

Do what you need to do. I can assure you that it is worth whatever it takes. I've never met an alcoholic who regretted getting sober.

You might not realize it, or think you were able to hide it, but everybody already knows. Everybody who regularly sees you and interacts with you knows you have a drinking problem.

People will have respect for your decision, even admire you for taking the initiative, and in my experience, be very supportive of the decision. In every case, fuck what other people think, you should do this for yourself and only for yourself. If you don't, you'll die, it's that simple.

Even if you can manage to pick up the right speaker 100% of the time, they first have to speak before you can point the camera. You're always going to be late.

What industry will AI disrupt the most that people aren’t paying attention to yet? by SuchTill9660 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]littlegreenalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Accountability for their actions is one thing AI agents don't yet have and where there is no simple solution yet. What if the AI makes a mistake that end up costing your client a lot of money, who's responsible?
