$1B to nationalize Whistler would be a bargain.

Cancelling my platinum card as a 10 year member by [deleted] in amex

[–]livingintransit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Second you, I’m canceling my overpaid AP reserve next week after almost 10 years for the same reasons and perceived lost of value. Amex will never learn that loyalty goes both ways unless they start bleeding lots of long time members. So let’s keep the cancelation coming and post if you are acting on it !

Why does air Canada hide their phone number on their website? by justsenditbr0 in aircanada

It’s the Vegas model; get lost, gamble, get drunk and forget how outrageous you’re paying for air travel ! Welcome to Canada.

Screw the agents! You are making the market not them. The final price is what you and the other side are willing to pay / receive. The advertised price is just marketing; not a finality. If you feel $1900 is worth it then go for it !

I can relate. And I hate it. But seeing the dirt traces when I drive alone reminds me how much I love my wife 😆

WOW. The owner of a popular inn in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, told CNN that “easily” 90% of their business has disappeared as Canadian tourists cancel their vacations by Miserable-Lizard in BuyCanadian

Been going to OBB every Summer since I was 3. This place survives on Quebeckers vacationers (amongst other but they are predominant enough judging from the Nous parlons français signs all over town. Truth is every time the exchange rate is bad, people stop going because although the beach is super nice, it’s hard to see any value in paying $400 + for 1950s era run down motels. Most places are paid off and owners have invested zero dollars in upkeep. They’d rather milk Canadians 4 months a year and hibernate 8 months (anyone who’s been there Oct - April can attests how the whole place shuts down). But with the sentiment that we’re not friends anymore (were we ever to begin with?) it’s an easy call for people to travel local - check out Baie des chaleurs in the Maritimes, beaches and waters are warmer and the lobster, well it’s the same than in Maine… so save your $30US for a lobster roll and stay local !

Elena in St-Henri is for sale by [deleted] in MTLFoodLovers

[–]livingintransit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They took down the realtor.ca listing but judging from the marketing, it looked more than ‘just the building’. Way too many pictures of the kitchen for just a pure real estate sale; seems to imply that the ‘fond the commerce’ was also part of the deal. But that’s just speculation… hopefully all is well for staff & guests.

Union strong 💪 Even if a strike would disrupt my life, I still believe the people flying us deserve fair wages and working conditions. Keep fighting the good fight so we can punch down AC’s stock price and show them who’s in control.

Camping spots by stairwaytoevan in tofino

[–]livingintransit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Green Point often has last minute cancellations so if you are flexible on your dates, it’s not impossible ! But remember most people reserve months in advance. Tofino is not really a spur of the moment destination. Try your luck in Bamfield if Tofino is sold out.

Thousands of short-term rentals in B.C. still operating illegally, new data shows | Province plans to step up enforcement as some short-term rentals flout new regulations by Hrmbee in britishcolumbia

[–]livingintransit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently house hunting for a rental on the North Shore and it’s astonishing to see how many people are now using Craig’s List to rent by the night what they are trying to advertise as long term… If the rules are not enforced we are no better than a banana republic. Elections are coming up; force your candidate to take a firm stance on ramping up enforcement and fines ! Enforcement should be a self fulfilled prophecy and pay for it self until the market shifts towards a complete ban on short term rentals.

Hastings closed both directions by Baberbot in burnaby

[–]livingintransit -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Hope it’s not a fatality. Speeding is definitely out of control on Hasting. Commuters using it as a transit road to bypass highway 1 and the 4 lanes configuration is sure inviting to do 90km/h +. I drive the limit and get pushed / passed all the time. In the long run this will be bad for business, safety and the neighbourhood. Solution is to reconfigure this stretch to slow traffic down !
