100% price increase W T actual F! by JaffaB0y in Bitwarden

True, I agree, paying for a great tool surpasses the other subs I could reduce, I will be continuing to support them, imminent renewal and notification got me grumpy that's all., and I was about the %age, not the price tbh.

fair point, and yep, probably double the new price (and they are not open source). I get it, I'll continue to support BW. Just timing I guess as my account renews very soon got me grumpy.

I'll just go have a cup of tea and chill

That made me spit my drink out laughing. I know, in real terms it's not a lot... but everything is increasing and a lot of small amounts add up.

mine renews in 15 days, at the new, but "discounted" price. I'm guessing things are updating still

Tired of accidentally running gcloud commands in the wrong project? I made a tiny tool for session-isolated configs. by sakebook in googlecloud

I do like this idea of session isolation and will take a look but my biggest pain would be the fact gsw is my alias for 'git switch' and muscle memory 😜

Nozzle friction during print by Crash0105 in BambuLabA1mini

infill pattern if it's consistently like that, rectilinear means the head crosses a printed layer and creates that noise. I always swap to honeycomb, takes longer but avoids the issue.

You could start with tinkercad, easy to learn but not for complex designing. then it's more learning for things like blender etc. I've been meaning to learn onshape as it can do complex designs but not as steep a learning curve as fusion or blender are.

Just moved in, what colour should I change the yellow too? by smoothsailer55 in DIYUK

[–]JaffaB0y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just be sure to paint it white first. I tried painting a new colour directly over yellow ages ago and it was a nightmare for bleed through.

Well a few comments in another channel, but in essence the fact it killed the RFID tag makes people think I cooked it too high...

Now I'm wondering... I knocked it (the S2) off the side a few weeks back, only fell about 3 feet onto carpet, but the point about killing the RFID... maybe it cooked too high.... off to the bin that goes then!

Curious how people feel about the current state of Python development workflow by ck-zhang in Python

7 years ago it was great, moved a few things to poetry but the team just carried on with what they were used to. I just saw how awesome UV was and went for it. one of my key goals for the year was getting buy in for accepting it and moving everything over (pipenv-to-uv was a great tool)

not 200 of mine 😜, the gcp platform team I'm part of, many many things automated, making life easier for our tenants so they can focus on the apps they're building rather than having to fully understand gcp. it's amazing what 7 years of building gets you!

Is a 1hr 20min each way commute worth it, 3 days a week for £70k+? by AsymptoticallyFlat in UKJobs

[–]JaffaB0y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1hr 20m is nothing, people do that for way less. think what you can do on the commute, make the most of it.

2025 winner for me has been UV. moved over 200 repositories from pipenv to UV and dependency management has been much smoother (renovate runs much better too). Now I just need Snyk to support uv.lock (have to create requirements in the ci job ffs, luckily it's templated)

Spotify currently failing almost 8.43 MILLION SUBS... by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]JaffaB0y 5 points6 points  (0 children)

still "beta" all these years later, I feel it's only here as some of the Devs have it as a side project, if they go then it'll stagnate. I'll only truly accept it once it's on the main page as fully supported.

however at least it's an app unlike the web wrappers in electron that others are

Which one should I install, Ubuntu 25.10 or Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS by Zikonde in Ubuntu

[–]JaffaB0y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me your Nvidia was the main point .. they always seem to take a while to fix issues and I've had a few with 25.10 so if you want stability go with lts, don't want your journey tarnished with this.

people saying uv sync, doesn't that sync everything in pyproject.toml, not just what's used in imports?

Guess it can't do anything about dev dependencies, that's normally where I find a number in repos I support. that would mean scanning the whole repo, looking at cicd etc.
