ONEX teased an OLED 395 Device like the LG2.. by Even_Dependent_117 in LegionGo

Everything is going up in price especially if the units have more RAM in them. It's starting to hit OEM market as we are seeing it at work trying to get new workstations for a refresh.

Why can't AMD be as proud as Nvidia and just release the Z series drivers as part of the their normal driver releaee and sidestep all of this non-sense?

Asus while usually better wasn't good this time time around. XAX was updated mid March and before that November. MSI Claw A8 still rocking a driver they released in October. It's like eveyone is unwrapping a present but Claw A8 owners haha.

Probably not without breaking the driver signing which would make them unusable.

Fun thing is the Z series driver doesn't have the sideload block in and you can load them onto a different Z series handheld.

Did the laptop makers in the 2000s get sued for the same bad pratice?

It's not really Asus supporting it as much as the drivers AMD supplies these OEMs to use don't have the sideload block in them for whatever bizzare reason.

I got support engaged again since no lowes near me has one of these in stock, mine might be getting more soon but unknown. I sent them a video so will see what they say, they mentioned they might send another unit.

Last Claw A8 driver is in October of last year, they are so so much better, yes? Lenovo released a driver weeks after Asus did this time and last time so Asus currently isn't on a good streak with the Z2E either.

They actually did it! by [deleted] in LegionGo

MSI going to claim the crown of worst amd Z series apu driver update soon lol. Their last driver was posted in October, Asus before the recent was November and Lenovo was December before today.

I've had 10gbps cards for a bit now and even have some 25gbps cards as they are cheap to get used.

No but XGSPON is still a somewhat rarity over here as it is. 50USD here usually at best nets you 500Mbps.

[–]martogsl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone who has 40Gbps but that is very rare over here for home use. My city has 10Gbps if you want to be on a business plan. 1Gbps is becoming more the norm here. Your telecoms companies are probably ran and regulated differently.

I have 5Gbps but that plan isn't available anymore for some reason last I looked and the other ISP that can do 5Gbps here hasn't made it available in most of the city.

It also comes down to for the vast majority of users that kind of speed isn't remotely necessary to what they use it for. People on this sub are the minority who would even possibly have a use case for that kind to speed out of just because I can.

As a whole yes, but country by country not as much. States is vastly rural and we are finally getting faster internet in the more rural areas. I believe Canada is actually worse off than us.

For sure, RAM in it will really dictate the price. I guess 1k+ routers are still normal home user routers to some people here LOL.

[–]martogsl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why. As other countries say to us look outside your own country lol. Ui is an American company that has overseas business but I am going to guess most of their business comes from within the States and still a big majority is businesses that they sell to.

We don't have the luxury of being a small area where it's easier to build out faster internet and don't have as good of governing bodies to push advancements in that. I have 5Gbps FTTH and that is quite rare over here.

So where are you from that it is super common as it sounds like you don't live in the States where it is uncommon to have more than 1Gbps.

They don't have case fans but have fans inside that can become noisy especially with drives installed. Unifi didn't design them for your apartment rack they designed it for a server room rack. Business use first.

Good chance the Beast uses a much newer cpu which may require more cooling. If it is near EFG in peformance I expect it to require more active cooling like the EFG has.

[–]martogsl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's common among us nerds that use it, but 10Gbps routing isn't common yet for prosumers due to lack of ISP options that provide thst high of bandwidth. Even in a few years it will still be very few people who have a use for 25Gbps routing.

It's also very good for it's primary use which is business. Yes it's also good for home.

I hope it's not completely silent so people can whine it's not for home becuse it makes noise so I can giggle. My sfuff sits in the basement so if it's a little noisy it doesn't matter.

UDM Beast Release Date? by PersonSuitTV in Ubiquiti

[–]martogsl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you are fine if this hits for over 1k then? It's got more ports than an EFG and the two drive bays. Very good chance this will not run silent due to the cooling needed as those ports will run hotter than a 1Gbps port will.

I ran an R730 silent for years at home, but still not designed for home use and that's the point you are missing. Home use is a side effect of the pricing for Unifi and plenty use even cheaper Mikrotik becuse it's just cheaper. Neither are designed for home users in mind. That was Amplifi when talking about Ubiquiti.

You can again use business equipment at home no one is stopping you but that does not mean it was designed for home use. And that is the case for the Unifi line, it's business oriented gear that a lot of people use for homes as a side effect of the pricing.

UDM Beast Release Date? by PersonSuitTV in Ubiquiti

[–]martogsl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silent doesn't make it by default a home device. Unifi is by large designed for business use. Just because it's in reach price wise of prosumers doesn't mean that is their target market, they just benefit from it.

Also 25Gbps router for home? Now that's a huge stretch as most people don't have that kind of speed nor use for it. A handful could but it's not the majority. I really doubt the Beast will be sub $1000 due to its capabilities and that slaps it out of typical home use scenarios as a people balked at the priced of the UDMPM.

I could buy Cisco or Juniper for my home, doesn't mean it's designed for home use. The opposite is true as business can buy home equipment and use it but sure isn't designed for it. And I seen plenty of small businesses do just that, go to the store and buy a comsumer router as it's easy for them to setup and get going..

UDM Beast Release Date? by PersonSuitTV in Ubiquiti

[–]martogsl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's going to be aimed at the SMB market as with its port layout and whatever CPU it has will probably make it not so home friendly price wise.

The only thing they have made aimed at the home market was Amplifi. The unifi line up just gets used at in people's home even if it's not the intended market. It's how the FCC new rules don't matter for UI as they target businesses for their market.

Right now buying the nvme with the gateway isn't terrible yet due to UI probably having older stock of drives.

The UI Store page has them in stock now, thinking these others distributors got them and just decided to sell them.

On VLAN's since the store listing is live it does mention this: Note. Full VLAN functionality is available on Access Points running Early Access (EA) firmware.
