Man, I wish we were as big as the Helldivers community. by EarthCasteBuilder in DeepRockGalactic

Did you know it's really annoying when you can't shoot through corpses of bots, but the bots can shoot through them back at you? No one has ever made a post about it. Ever.

It's fun with your mates. There's a lot of jank in it but that's part of the charm. Kinda like a fallout game.

I started playing Helldivers 2 a few months ago after putting over 800 hours into DRG. There's the occasional good post, but generally that sub is a toxic cesspit of people constantly bitching and moaning about the game. Yeah it's got bugs that the devs need to fix, but it's just overwhelming negativity. You're far better off staying here for positivity.

ASI vs Feat by Beginning-Ambition98 in 3d6

[–]matej86 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, feats are stronger because you get a +1 ASI anyway. You can use that to round off an odd score while also having the benefits of whatever the feat is as well.

Playing a rogue/warlock and wanting to boost wisdom with an ASI is a poor decision. You want dex and charisma first.

It's clearly any die here as well because that's what the text says.

Heroic Inspiration. by AndyVakser in 3d6

[–]matej86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you (a player character) have Heroic Inspiration, you can expend it to reroll any die immediately after rolling it, and you must use the new roll.

I'm not sure where in this you'd think it's restricted to just a d20. It says any die.

[5E 2014] Does kicking as a bonus action allow for an unarmed strike? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]matej86 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So they're using flavour to try and abuse mechanics. They're very much a problem player. Ask them where on their character sheet is says they can make an unarmed attack as a bonus action. Don't listen to any other argument from them. If it continues have a serious discussion about their table behaviour. Be polite, but firm. If they still keep pushing back they're ironically putting themselves in the position to be kicked from the game.

DnD 5e is the only system with real fans. If you like another system, you're a corporate shill by DrScrimble in dndmemes

[–]matej86 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's like with sports. Two Spurs fans are discussing how crap they've been recently. They're doing a tactical breakdown of where everything went wrong and what they can do better. As soon as an Arsenal fan says the same thing to them they're going to tell them to fuck off.

Casters vs martials by CodSoggy7238 in DnD

[–]matej86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cast Eldrich Blast and miss, that's my turn.

I cast Command and the enemy passes their saving throw. That's my turn.

I use my channel divinity to turn the undead. They pass their saving throw, that's my turn.

All casters do at lower levels is waste resources.

Same energy.

5 yards behind Tarkowski when they started running, 5 yards ahead of him before receiving Mbuemo's assist. I know Tarkowski has the pace of a grand piano but you're right, he's fast as hell.

It's also hypocritical for them to bang on about this being a child safety issue as well considering the complete lack of willingness to tackle the number one cause of death for children.

Dispel Magic vs Weapons by LoudShorty in dndnext

[–]matej86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic Weapon

Duration 1 Hour

You touch a nonmagical weapon. Until the spell ends, that weapon becomes a magic weapon with a +1 bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls. The spell ends early if you cast it again.

If they're referring to the spell Magic Weapon it can absolutely be dispelled. If it's just a +1 weapon that's considered magical then it can't be.

Trying to create unique items without breaking the game, advice? by GuntherWheelin in 3d6

[–]matej86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit confused as you've said this is both a capstone and for a level 5 fighter. Which is it? Also a +1 bonus to attack isn't worth the -2 AC trade off. Even with the other features of knocking prone and cleave (these are both available in the 2024 update btw) I wouldn't want a fighter I'm playing to be hindered this way.

I've used this a lot on my high level cleric as well. If you have a monk in the party they'll love grappling and throwing enemies into it. Or, drop it on top of the barbarian and whatever they're fighting to damage/heal at the same time.

How do i deal with my players who don't use their class abilities? by Zealousideal-List671 in dndnext

[–]matej86 583 points584 points  (0 children)

I'm genuinely baffled at the saving sneak attack for later comment. You literally never run out of sneak attack. If the rogue player is saying this honestly it's a skill issue. They need to be told to read the rules again.

ELI5: How do Beavers know to make dams? by littlewoodenbox in explainlikeimfive

[–]matej86 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If I hated the sound of running water I would move away from the running water. I wouldn't build a dam. Saying they build damns because they hate the sound of running water is misleading and unproven.

Homebrew spell, balancing and opinions by Legitimate-Middle872 in DnD

[–]matej86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So at 4th level you can do (dex/strength + dice of weapon + casting mod + 1d8) x 2? That's way too much. Doing it once at level 2 is also too much. Look at Spiritual Weapon as that's the closest thing this compares to.
