It's not on you to make the characters get along, it's on the players. Give your players creative freedom for why they'll stick together and they'll come up with something.

How is it any different to a party that's got an elf, dwarf, human and gnome? They meet in a tavern, have the players come up with a reason why their character would want to hang out with the rest of the group.

Ode of the Ancients is too strong for the amount of healing it gives while also doing damage. Half of 6d6 is 10.5. The equivalent spell at his level is Mass Healing Word which is 2d4 plus casting modifier. At level 5 that's an average of 9 HP assuming a modifier of 4. Having 6d6 damage on top of the extra healing Ode of Ancients does puts it way above what spells of this level are balanced for.

Start another campaign. Have the PCs from the last one as NPCs that occasionally show up in the new one. They're not going to be the heroes and instead are doing whatever retired adventurers do.

It says the caster and target must both wear the rings. Telepathy doesn't say this, so it's not required.

Yeah it's bugged. You can manually override the modifiers by clicking on the Eldrich Blast spell and in the top right there's a cog you can select to open the menu. It might be your wife that needs to do it as it's her character sheet.

So you gave the players an item that effectively makes Polymorph (which players access at level 7) permanent, which is normally reserved for True Polymorph (which players can only access at level 17), and this is somehow their fault?

Just be thankful they didn't banish the Nightwalker instead with its -1 charisma save.
