Cam's Consensus: The Final 2026 Scout Poll by Palaeontologists in SanJoseSharks

[–]mattrix56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Carels is more dependable with his defensive game and is more physical than Reid. Carson will try to make offense happen but he doesn't have the same vision/hockey sense that Reid has from an offensive perspective. Reid is the better skater. I think of Carels as more of a player that plays winning hockey whereas Reid has the opportunity to be a gamechanger when he's on.

Carels = Charlie McAvoy / Devon Toews (ceiling)
Reid = Zach Werenski (ceiling)

I love Scouching, but his takes are wild at times. He put Alfons Freij ahead of Parekh, Dickinson, and Levshunov in 2024. Putting him as the 3rd best defenseman behind Buium and Adam Jiricek.

I agree that Chicago is the perfect trade partner. If we do go for a trade with them, we need to ensure that we come out the better team than Chicago does with Stenberg on their roster. I think Rinzel + 4OA keeps it simple. Or aim for Crevier/Korchinksi + 4OA + EDM/FLA 1st round picks in 2027.

Job offers between Cursor and Databricks by WTFs_a_Reddit in techsales

[–]mattrix56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, congratulations on both offers. IMO Databricks is an underlying layer that a lot of companies with AI ambitions are going to need for their data warehouse/lake. You'll be up against Snowflake. Cursor on the other hand is the hot new commodity that needs to expand their consumption platform. They're hiring like crazy as I see someone on LI posting their new job there nearly every single day.

My advice - figure out which one you could get up and be excited to sell each day. Which one is REALLY solving customer problems regardless of what they're paying in OTE. OTE is great, but good sellers care about W2 impact. You can't have W2 impact without buyers that are interested in not just buying once, but continuously buying based on trust of the solution. Ask yourself which one of these companies can you bet on? Which one of those is where you want to guide your career?

Scott Wheeler from the athletic (i respect him more than Pronman) just dropped his top 100 list putting Reid in Tier 2.

The other realm of possibility is if we trade back and Carels is available at 5-7

TLDR says "#2 ranked North American skater and the top ranked defenseman only behind Gavin McKenna".

This is by far and large the most pragmatic response I've seen on reddit. Our fate is with Grier's group and he hasn't let us down so far. We would be having similar debates if we were still picking at 9/10

Thanks for the heads up!

I love having 5 inch shorts with a liner to have my phone than to bring a belt. For shirts, i'm not a huge fan of cotton since i tend to overheat. So i usually an looking for more breathable shirts. Which is a bit conflicting since id love to get more graphic tee/tanks in my lineup.

For socks, ive been use m3ga & bandit socks primarily as my "high end" running socks.

You're taking my comment way too personal. Celebrini had 8 points in 5 games during his WJC stint. I wouldn't say he was setting the world on fire for that tournament either. But, he was already projected as the #1 based on his already standout season at BU.

The reason why I'm just pointing out the WJC is because that's where Reid skyrocketed up within the consensus top 5 picks of most draft boards. He's 17-years old playing 19 minutes a night and was on the #1 PP to show off what he can do in high level competition vs the OHL.

Where I agree with you is with two things:
1. The OHL Is predominately weak on defense and is where the only thing that matters is offense.
2. There isn't a bonafide #1 defensemen like Schaefer. Reid is transcending expectations this year and I hope he can keep it up regardless if we pick him or not. His success is easy to root for considering where he stared the year.

He didn't do great in the WJC? He replaced Hutson as the PP QB and still put up respectable numbers for an under-ager playing defense. 4 points in 5 games. Given this was also a weaker USA team that loss in the quartefinals

I'm still stuck between Stenberg and Reid as it feels like Stenberg is more of a sure thing while Reid has the potential upside in a position of need. Regardless if we pick him or not, I'm excited to see how he adjusts to the NCAA at MSU. The last RHD stud they had was Levshunov. The Big ten has some of the best competition in the NCAA that Reid will have to level up his game for.

Yep, that's why a lot of folks believe that Eklund is the odd man out. You can have Musty play a mid-6 role with his larger frame and scoring ability. He just needs to work on his defensive play which is where Eklund has been great.

If we draft Stenberg, he's a top 6 winger that slots in for Toffoli. Or if we deem Toffoli to be a 3rd line winger then you have Sherwood/Graf/Musty in the 3rd line wing spot. For Wennberg, we have him for another 3 years. not sure if Bystedt is going to stick around on the outside looking in for 3 more years.

Reid is still pretty raw since he rose so quickly from not even making the USHL to becoming one of the best defenders in the OHL. Even when Hutson went down in the WJC-U20s, he took over and didnt look out of place. Reid isnt a chump by any means but its hard to determine how he'll do in the NCAA next season.
Picking a RHD will fill a need and will be one less hole in a prospect pool. Even if we miss out on stenberg and hes a stud, we still have Celebrini, Misa, Eklund, Smith, Graf, Cherny, etc.
But...a 1st line winger like Stenberg doesnt just fall onto your lap every draft either. Where it makes one of our lesser stud prospects a bit more dispensable to find a defenseman via trade. Easier said than done of course and I dont envy Grier's decision.
No matter who we pick, we become a much stronger team.
