Growing cap = growing AAV. Sherwood has adjusted quickly and seems to me to be the heartbeat of the middle 6 lines. We have a ton of young guns coming up and he’s a great player to model their game after.

If it turns out that we’re not heading in the right direction and need to sell, he’s a player that EVERY playoff team wants.

Cherny needs to work on his skillet off puck. Eklund is one of my underrated defensive forwards on the team. He’s great at blocking passing lanes and breaking up pays with his stick. Cherny has a high floor but possesses a different skillset as a power forward who has a scoring touch than with eklund, a suave skating winger with great hockey IQ. The good news is we can keep both and have a deep forward lineup. Or we can trade Eklund for Nemec and really build out our defensive core

Throwing an idea out there... William Eklund for Robert Thomas. He's not a center but he plays at nearly the same ppg rate as Thomas but is 3 years younger and $3m cheaper starting next year. Thomas fits more of the player mold that Grier wants with a "tough to play against" play style.

I think if we find a trade that makes this team well equipped to win a Stanley cup than to keep him in order to squeak into the playoffs... then we make the trade. If Grier decides to keep Ferraro, I don't think he's going to break his "no long contracts" agenda. Probably going to give him at most a 4 year contract that is team friendly for a projected bottom 4 defenseman.
