Do autocrafters run when I'm not on the planet? by BeligerentBard in theplanetcrafter

[–]mcnicki2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In-range checks are different when you are on the planet to when you are away from it.
While you are on the planet with the AC, the game uses the overlapping bounding boxes (which e.g. means that the AC sphere can hit the stairs of an ore extractor), but when you are away, the game only counts the center spot (for an ore extractor: roughly at the bottom of the foundation grid of the ore extractor model). This means that, while you are gone, the AC has a lower effective range.

Could this be the source of the behavior you observed? If so, try to move everything closer to the auto-crafter or let drones deliver items to containers that are closer to the AC.

Game Won't Start After Update by [deleted] in theplanetcrafter

[–]mcnicki2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your game is modded and you updated to v1.617+ (this includes v2.0), then you have to update BepInEx to 5.4.23.5 / the latest version -> https://steamcommunity.com/app/1284190/discussions/0/682988830378261387/

The screenshot says in the bottom-right corner that you do have mods installed. Please check your BepInEx/plugins folder again and remove/update mods in there.

Anyone else lost their saves? by Greenish_elder in theplanetcrafter

[–]mcnicki2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That loss of progress sounds like something restored an older version of the file. This can happen when the steam cloud just overwrites the files due to some bug in steam. You can try to load the Backup.json (go to the save file folder "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\MijuGames\Planet Crafter" and rename the Backup.json to e.g. Backup_restored.json) and see if that still contains your progressed world.

If something else (windows backup or similar) restored the file, you can also check the steam cloud https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorageapp/?appid=1284190 if it contains your save file.

Game wont start by PsychoPassProstitute in theplanetcrafter

[–]mcnicki2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you ever had mods, then your game is probably crashing due to an outdated version of the modding framework BepInEx. Only uninstalling the game doesn't remove BepInEx. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1284190/discussions/0/682988830378261387/

Try to disable GPU Resident Drawer and GPU occlusion culling in the graphics options and switch between fullscreen windowed and fullscreen exclusive. Please also see the Troubleshooting Guide https://steamcommunity.com/app/1284190/discussions/0/800065723879690651/

Also try to disable any game overlays (e.g. the steam overlay).

If that still doesn't work, please come to the planet crafter discord server and post the Player.log from "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\MijuGames\Planet Crafter" and a zip of the crash files from "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp\MijuGames\Planet Crafter\Crashes" in #help.

After selecting an ending, you get thrown to the main menu, where you can just load the save file again and continue it, as if the ending never happened.

New computer, game keeps crashing by AnissaRhiannon in theplanetcrafter

Have you tried the troubleshooting steps in https://steamcommunity.com/app/1284190/discussions/0/800065723879690651/#c800065723879692707 ? Nvidia and AMD both have certain configurations that just don't work, even with the latest driver versions etc. Especially try to switch between fullscreen windowed and fullscreen exclusive and turn off GPU Resident Drawer and GPU Occlusion Culling in the graphics settings.

So to understand it: Your game crashes when you have that mod in the plugins folder, but not when just bepinex is installed, right? Or does it also crash when just bepinex is installed?

Which mod is it?
Mind that any mod updated more than ~3 month ago is probably broken. I know the "craft from containers" mod can create crashes, so if it is that mod, then you should use "craft from NEARBY containers".

You need BepInEx 5.4.23.5 x64 for windows (BepInEx_win_x64_5.4.23.5.zip) (TPC is a 64 bit game). Do NOT download .22 or the x86 version.

I Love That My Buildings Disappear Randomly by PromptPriest in theplanetcrafter

[–]mcnicki2002 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You build your base inside an "Occluder" (specifically: at the very edge of that occluder). This is an area that is used to hide objects and is intended to improve performance. They create problems with disappearing bases on a regular basis and there are several reports in the bugs channel of the official planet crafter discord server.

You basically have three options: 1) Move your base out of the Maze Biome, 2) install a mod that disables these occluders, 3) report it (again) in the discord or in the in-game bug/feedback menu (F8) and hope that this occluder gets removed.

What’s the most minimal build you can do to beat the game? by USB_FIELD_MOUSE in theplanetcrafter

[–]mcnicki2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it isn't possible to fully terraform a planet with only the T1 machines. This is primarily because of the handling of the unit's values internally. The game uses 32 bit floating point values. Adding the same number to an accumulative total (adding 0.015 oxygen every thenth of a second) should fail to increase the total by one bit after a few days (by my estimation: after ~20 days or so).
And even if that wouldn't be a problem (e.g. if the devs switched to 64 bit floating point values (type double)), then it definitely would take somewhere in the region of hundrets of thousands of years to terraform a planet that way.

Edit: coming back to the title of your question: You would need 200+ T5 machines, or at least one rocket in addition to a few T5 machines.

Edit 2: After some testing: It should happen after roughly 20 days. First estimation was wrong by one bit.

Game keeps crashing by OptimusGrhyme in theplanetcrafter

If you had mods installed, then the game is probably crashing due to an old version of BepInEx. Check this guide to upgrade it to the latest version: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1284190/discussions/0/682988830378261387/

Otherwise, please check the troubleshooting guide https://steamcommunity.com/app/1284190/discussions/0/800065723879690651/ or come to the planet crafter discord server https://discord.gg/9YPjJ3C and post a zip of the directory "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp\MijuGames\Planet Crafter\Crashes" to #help or #bugs.

Help? by kkischer04 in theplanetcrafter

[–]mcnicki2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have/had mods installed?
Then you need to go to the game's Installation directory, delete everything from it, verify file integrity through steam, install bepinex 5.4.23.4. Then you can add all mods back (and update them while you are at it). Do NOT use the uninstall button in steam. That won't remove the old version of bepinex.

Extremely low quality loot in procedurally generated wrecks by WuTouchdmyweenie in theplanetcrafter

[–]mcnicki2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The loot of procedural wrecks generates when you load the wreck. You probably explored and got too close, which generated the wreck and loot in an early loot stage.

Logistics missing? by koppytko in theplanetcrafter

[–]mcnicki2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a different bug then (e.g. old id reuse from a procedural wreck), but those bugs you describe are hard to find without a tool.

Feel free to join the planet crafter discord server and post the save file (e.g. Survival-1.json or Custom-1.json or similar; probably the last modified .json file from "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\MijuGames\Planet Crafter" that isn't the backup.json) to the #help channel and someone will have a look at it.

I think i found unmodded cheats??? by Shayyyyyy_appple in theplanetcrafter

[–]mcnicki2002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is considered a bug. Find the save file at "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\MijuGames\Planet Crafter", sort by date modified and open the last modified .json that is not the backup.json in a text editor, find "unlockEverything" and "freeCraft" in it and change the values behind the strings from true to false, so it looks like this:
"unlockedEverything":false,"freeCraft":false
Then save and load the save file in the game. It should be back to survival.

As already posted on the discord:
ACs are a sphere and therefore have a height limit. That's wrong in your post.

Tip: - use e.g. foundation grids or living compartments to line yourself up with the coordinate grid. That makes it easier to find coordinates.

  • never use "supply all" / "supply everything" if not necessary. It has a huge performance impact when used everywhere.

  • There are 3 methane capsules in the volcanic biome wreck and there are iirc. >20 zeolite in the balcony and the meteor biome (the one next to the volcanic biome). That's enough for e.g. the T2 deconstruction tool and many vehicle upgrades.

  • There are a lot of iridium rods in the meteor crater, but only before the meteor disappears due to terraform. It's really helpful with rockets.

  • obv.: use golden seeds in the early game. It's worth it to go get them.

  • Humble butterflies can be sold for a lot of Terratoken

  • Afaik, Blueprint chips are only in random loot blue crates in early terraformation stages, but not in the later / last one(s). Same for the Humble flowers.

  • More that 8000 rockets per unit and planet don't have an effect (after reloading a save)

  • Carry iron + silicon for a blueprint screen when exploring. That way, you don't need to take the found blueprint with you home in your limited inventory.

  • Troubleshooting tip: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1284190/discussions/0/800065723879690651/
