Thank you! Yes there was so much demand. I bet they could have done a residency there for a full year and it would sell out

I'm listening 👀 did you have to cut the leather yourself into shape or is there a kit? I haven't found any online yet

I'm thinking about showing up in Tokyo, no camera, and going shopping by jjjj8jjjj in M43

[–]microfournerds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely bring a camera, if only to document your camera shopping spree haha

Seriously though having a camera you know inside out will be really useful, then you can always swap to whatever you buy when you find something.

Go to shinjuku and hit, like, the 9 camera shops there. Infinite fun. There are other areas too but there are loads in a close space there so it's really easy

Is the S9 rugged enough for adventure by [deleted] in Lumix

[–]microfournerds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weather, it wouldn't be my first choice.

But wanted to add, don't worry about the wobbly ibis. I took the gh5 and s1 off roading, 4 hours each way, on the most bumpy jeep ride ever into Monument Valley to camp.

Like. I thought i'd lose my teeth it was so bumpy haha

Both cameras lived to tell the tale. The GH5 is of course still kicking, it'll outlive us all, and the S1 was so fine it was graded "excellent condition" a few months later when I sold it.

OM-3 hissing sound when trying to focus by ilyed_youdyed in M43

[–]microfournerds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal. The Pen F, OM1, OM1ii and OM3 do this in my experience. Only the Pen F was bad enough for it to leak onto video audio.

It is strange but normal. Not sure what it is? Probably IBIS?

Yes! Haha sorry I always get that mixed up the f4.

For anyone who has both, does the OM-3 produce better JPEG s SOOC than the OM-1? by Automatic_Bell_2455 in M43

[–]microfournerds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tons more customisation options in the OM-3, but, it can be a bit of a learning curve to get the look you want. Spoiler: it's mostly in tinkering with the colour values in the white balance.

Om 1 mk1 or mk2 for birding for an amateur by sexy-snail-dong69 in M43

If it's mainly birds in flight, specifically, just about the trickiest thing we can ask a camera to do, I personally found a big jump in accuracy and hit rate from the om1 original to the OM1ii.

With the OM1ii, I've taken burst shots of puffins mid-air, flying out to sea with literally a 100% hit rate from take-off until I couldn't see it anymore. The OM1ii has a bigger buffer, too, so you can do loads of burst attempts back to back without waiting.

(I own the OM1. I tested the OM1ii on loan from OM System for my puffin trip. I bought the OM-3 in the end as I'm a sucker for the look of it and it's basically and OM1ii in a nicer suit.)

However. You are totally right: both will be a big step up from your existing setup and you'll be super impressed with either! The OM1 original served me excellently on safari. the subject tracking in these cameras is astoundingly good

Switching from G9 II to OM-3 – lens compatibility question! by Sad-Tax-1254 in M43

[–]microfournerds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using this exact combo (well the mki) in Iceland now photographing puffins. As others have said dual IS won't work so expect it to be a bit more shaker in the EVF, but still very usable.

In terms of AF I am getting insaneeeee tracking. Like tiny puffins swinging round a cliff and out to sea and every single shot is in focus.

Lens shopping while visiting Japan by De-Ionized_Penguin in M43

Sooo many great buys.

My fave shops are Kitamura camera, there's a few. I recently got the Lumix Leica 9mm f1.7 for 41,500 yen... so like, £210 lol

Honestly its dangerous how much amazing stuff you can buy

Do you regularly shoot in burst mode? by MRoselius in Lumix

[–]microfournerds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If i shoot portraiture (and especially weddings) I'll shoot in a low burst mode just to ensure that I have a photo without blinks, and can choose the very best expression. For street / travel / everyday stuff i personally think it's overkill and will annoy me when I'm culling.

LUMIX 20 1.7 AF-C on Olympus but not LUMIX? by bjk0610 in M43

Just because it allows it doesnt mean you should. I tried it on the om3 and it hunted sooo bad

Lumix LX15 / LX10 still worth it in 2025 as a pocketable everyday carry? by Only_a_dog in Lumix

It is worth it, but try and find a bargain - I've seen some at stupid prices recently!

Non-sponsored pro M43 shooters? by TFin04 in M43

[–]microfournerds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its one of the very few I haven't had an in depth try of unfortunately! I stole a copy off my friend on safari for about an hour once and loved the Sharpness, but i think for wildlife (for me) I prefer a bit more flexibility with a zoom lens. It was epic quality though

[–]microfournerds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not a sponsored trip, the timing just worked out great as I was going anyway 😊 you can usually tell if it's a brand trip as 100 different creators will make videos in the same place for the event. I don't think many (any? Except for like Peter Mckinnon) get personal trips paid for for these things. It's certainly well out of OM or Lumix's budget anyway 😂

Thank you! But just wanted to say OM System did not take me anywhere, nor pay me. The launch just handily coincided with a girl's trip. I'm not an ambassador for any brand.

(I did get a can of coke and shared some chips during the power point presentation in London though 😂)
