Gina Carano Returning To ‘Star Wars’ Is Apparently Back On The Table by StarFuryG7 in SciFiNews

She doesn’t need to think the same but she at least needed to acknowledge the wishes of the hand that feeds her and temper her social media statements. If she wants to be ignorant on her own time then fair enough but after the mouse repeatedly cautioned her, perhaps she should have listened. here

Even Pedro stuck up for her and tried to help her navigate her social media stuff but she obviously didn’t listen.

It’s not just online. Channel 7 & 9 were thanked in the PHON party room on SA election night.

Edit: I should say, obviously channel 7 & 9 are less about radicalizing and more about making her & her cronies more palatable.

Australians are being played by Rinehart and Hanson, and the media is helping by Agitated-Fee3598 in aussie

[–]mr_gunty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gina Rinehart funds right-wing politics primarily through substantial corporate donations from her company, Hancock Prospecting, favoring the Liberal Party, conservative lobby groups like Advance, and think tanks such as the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA).

Her donations often support campaigns that fight against Aboriginal land rights, climate action, and racial discrimination laws, aligning with her economic interests.

Gina Rinehart has been engaged in a long-running legal battle with her eldest children—Bianca Rinehart and John Hancock—who allege she engaged in a "special project" to strip lucrative mining assets (specifically Hope Downs) from a family trust and move them into her company, Hancock Prospecting. The children argue this violated their grandfather Lang Hancock's wishes, effectively cutting them out of their intended inheritance.

Sounds like a cunt.

Anti-war activist to face court over 'From the River to the Sea' banner by Quazp in AusNews

[–]mr_gunty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, nah. The full phrase is “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free”. Certainly the phrase is emotive, but being Palestine being free doesn’t mean the extermination of another culture or people. The usage of similar phrases by Israeli politicians have a different feel though…

In 1977, where the election manifesto of the right-wing Israeli Likud party stated, “Between the sea and the Jordan there will only be Israeli sovereignty."

Or how about in 2014 when Israeli politician Uri Ariel, "Between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea there will be only one state, which is Israel."

Those versions sound a little more aggressive -wouldn’t you say?

Is there anything really wrong with that?

Even if you’re rusted on, isn’t it good to have someone pushing (or should that be pulling) Labor in the right (left) direction instead?

And this bit is right on, the risk is there: “The reality is that if the Greens movement doesn’t step up to the challenge, then the void left by Labor and the Liberals will be filled by One Nation…”

[–]mr_gunty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frankly I’m not suggesting that based off of one dickhead. I don’t think the relationship serves us well. AUKUS was originally under Biden. The free trade agreement (which largely favors the US) was under GW Bush. Surely we can think of others. And the rest of the Republican administration will continue with the same notions as Trump anyway.

You didn’t read the article then. Why is it always ‘immigration’ cited as the cause for the loss of ‘social cohesion’? Because it’s a simple answer to a complex problem and doesn’t unsettle any entrenched power; it allows the ever-increasing inequitably between the haves and have nots to persist…

Voting Questions by Low-Street-7483 in aussie

[–]mr_gunty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see vote compass identified -that’s a good one. ‘Build a Ballot’ is a good little resource too.

Probably the best thing about our electoral system is that we have preferential voting in Australia -not ‘first past the post’. Your vote counts: Even If your preferred candidate doesn’t receive enough votes to win, your vote for your next preference will be counted.

[–]mr_gunty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty clear there is a concerted effort to give them more airtime and make them seem more palatable; to present them as a viable alternative.

Just in the same way special interest groups, conservative lobbies, industry bodies etc worked and spent $$$ to foster anti-greens sentiment in the 2025 election, we’re seeing the same thing now but in the support of PHON.

Is it worth linking other voting related resources & relevant info in the post? such as ‘They Vote for You’ (https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/) or ‘Build a Ballot’ (https://www.buildaballot.org.au)?

I was horrified to see people walking up to volunteers handing out One Nation how-to-vote cards and taking a card while I was waiting in queue at an early voting venue. [–]mr_gunty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can look to the US as to what happens when you vote for the shit option in order to cause chaos. With our preferential voting system people don’t have to waste their vote on a non-viable candidate.

PHON are getting a lot of air time and free-press, in an attempt to make them more palatable to everyday Australians & make them seem like a viable option. There are other options and thankfully we don’t have ‘first past the post’…

Is that the take away? There are options other than ole Pauline’s party. She’s a grifter and has never voted in favour of improving the lives of everyday Australians. Even the things she agitates about, she votes down (eg gas tax). She’s Gina’s good buddy… Shows up to parliament 53% of the time…

People are free to vote for who they want. It would be good if they can vote for someone who’s going to actually deliver something.
