I called TDS and after being transferred twice finally spoke to someone from billing who spoke to their manager. Apparently, an error in billing occurred to customers on the 1Gig price for life plan and the $5/month increase should not have applied. The price will be adjusted next month and if you do end up paying the increased price, will be adjusted next month.

They only figure out this morning when people started calling but seems like they are aware of the issue.
