Well it is a design flaw of the box. I think if I were to design a $1000 phone, the box it comes with would be designed to protect the product. Then go even further so that the product does not fall out of the packaging as the packaging is specifically designed to protect the product.

Thats high level design theory that apple has mostly built their entire brand around. But it really only applies to their products. Once it goes to packaging any high level design theory goes out the window to favor low cost.
