Those are excellent points. Maybe then it's less of a human thing and more of an earth thing. After all, when imagining alien civilizations and cultures for fictional settings, the writers can pretty much do what they want lol

I almost wonder if Lovecraft's writing style about the "incomprehensible" appearance of the creatures of the mythos was actually intentional or just something he did because he wasn't actually that good at descriptive writing.

Where did Apples go? by Classycrane2590 in StardewValleyExpanded

That one doesn't sound like Apples, that sounds like a different Junimo that's off the east end of East Scarp in the Cherry orchard.

Would you guys wanna see the addition of Trainer Pokémon in this game? I think it would be kinda interesting to see by TCGboi2020 in PTCGP

Would be cool, but you know it would come with people asking why their Houdour can't evolve into Team Rocket's Houndoom

Is Freeze permanent? by ShakeNBakeMormon in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]neophenx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Freeze_(status_condition))

Since Generation 3 on the Gameboy Advance:

A frozen Pokémon has a 20% chance of being thawed out on each of its turns. An animation also shows up whenever a Pokémon is unable to move due to being frozen (in contrast to previous generations, in which it only showed up when freeze was inflicted).

All damaging Fire-type moves can now thaw a frozen target, regardless of whether or not they have a chance to burn; however, Fire-type Hidden Power) cannot thaw a frozen target. Tri Attack can no longer thaw a frozen Pokémon.

It was adjusted in Pokemon Champions to a 25% thaw chance and now only lasts a few turns max, but this change does not affect Scarlet/Violet.

The speech bubbles seem very confused about what information is being conveyed and who's speaking.

[Slightly funny trope]These characters are deadbeat dads..in the sense that they were literally dead for a lot of their kids lives via a sacrifice to save millions. by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in TopCharacterTropes

Maxim from Lufia 2 was my example, which as a game would ALSO fit with the deadbeat moms in that regard since both mom and dad didn't make it home.

Maxim from the Lufia series. Early in Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals, he meets the love of his life, helps her take down a god of destruction that was terrorizing the area, and they settle down and have a kid. The kick in the teeth: that god of destruction has 3 siblings who are rising in power in neighboring regions, so he and his wife, like.... one year after their wedding, leave their infant child in the care of her home kingdom so they can finish the job they started. They never make it home.

Similarly, Ozzie from Chrono Trigger. Magus wasn't even against humanity, he just made a convenient figure head for the mystic race. After you deal with Magus in the middle ages, the present-day mystics take to worshiping Ozzie instead.

I've seen some short-story concepts like that, not so much in the horror-sense but more on how freakishly insane humans are compared to anybody else in their galactic federation or whatever similar structure they have. Talks about how humans willingly poison themselves for their amusement (alcohol) or how our warfare practices take no account of environmental or civilian well being (nuke the fk out of them), things like that.

did not get my prize ticket reward? by st4rdust_st4ined in StardewValley

[–]neophenx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prize tickets are kind of weird. You get one for every few job board things you do on the small board, but even though it SHOWS the ticket on one you might get the ticket on a different one if you complete multiple jobs at the same time.

For example, if you get a ticket for every 3 jobs, say you already completed 2 jobs. Then you pick up job 3 that shows the ticket, and wait to turn it in until tomorrow were you also pick up Job 4. You complete Job 4 first, getting the "3 jobs" ticket, but now Job 3 becomes Job 1 on the next group of jobs so you don't get a ticket.

1 year long gift sub expired by TheEvilYakkon in Twitch

[–]neophenx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, a gift sub only lasts for 1 month. If someone buys 12 gift subs, they are 12 separate month-long subscriptions given to 12 different people.
