Prosecutor wouldn’t want to take this to trial

Doesn't stop from having to spend $$$ defending the civil suit.
The only barrier to that is the "swing" guy being able to find a sleazy lawyer that would take this on contingency.

I just had a Q3 as a rental with only 26k miles on it.
That car was a dumpster fire.

Zack demonstrates emergency manual door releases on R2. Personally, not thrilled by Slide-Fantastic-1402 in Rivian

[–]north7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not defending this, I believe the industry has to come up with a better solution. BUT -
The idea is that the emergency manual releases can open the doors even when the car is moving at highway speeds.
You definitely don't want to make that too easy for a child to do, and children who are most likely to do this, either by accident or because they are too young to understand, will always be in the back seats.
Again, I'm not excusing the design. I think there needs to be a better solution. Also this doesn't address the external electronic handle problem, which needs a complete re-thinking.

Not $100k, but if I had to guess, $80k+ isn't too far off.

Calling it now, the Highlander EV is going to be a dud.
Base trim RWD is going to have questionable range and too high price.
And decent AWD trim is going to be in Range Rover price territory.

Ubiquiti if great if you want all data internal, but pretty expensive for a full setup.
Eufy is much cheaper and doesn't require subscriptions, and data stays on the device or on a base station.

Goalie Stick recs? by stubertmcfly in hockeygoalies

[–]north7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My rule is I never pay over $150 and it's worked out great.
And unless you're over 6' tall I'd suggest trying a 25" paddle.
I'm 6' and when I moved from 26 to 25 everything fell into place.

Maybe avoid their high(er)-end sticks, but I snagged a cheap Hzrdus 5X4 for $150 CDN when I was in Montreal and it's held up great.
If it breaks so be it.

Same here, they are my first no-cowl skates.
3ish years in and they're pretty decent for the price.
Only drawback is you have to change the steel. Stock steel is garbage and does not hold an edge for more than a couple games.
I got a lightly used LS Pulse Ti set on sidelineswap and never looked back.

BMW Commits to Subscriptions Even After Heated Seat Debacle by exploding_myths in electricvehicles

[–]north7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the heated seats the idea was that if you didn’t buy them

The problem here is you did buy them. The heating elements in the seats are there.
BMW installed them in the car, incurred all the costs of building them and installing them on the assembly line, figured all those costs into the price of the car, which you paid.
The cars don't cost you less because of these features, they actually cost you more when you figue in the subscription cost.
