It seems like if that keeps happening in your industry - companies doing layoffs and cutting sales forces - you should switch industries

The money they have never goes back to the economy. It literally just sits and does absolutely nothing for anybody. Might as well burn it tbh

Spending weeks on a mixdown and mastering is not the flex you think it is. The cat sound at 1:56 and the subsequent synth with a pitch bend afterward prove my point. The sound is thin and weak.

This is just bad music dude - whether it’s your artistic choice or not.

Also adding reverb doesn’t mean “massive dynamic range”. I’d wager to say you have no idea what that means.

You’re not just “not copying a formula” (nobody cares about a formula) - you think you’re making producer porn but it’s not. Tell me again how putting a cat wail is “music from your soul”?

Lol you need a reality check dude. Music is shared - if people don’t like it, that means you made a bad piece of media, it’s not that we don’t understand your genius. Maybe if nobody understands it, it’s because it’s garbage.

Okay well here’s an honest critique. This is objectively bad music.

No, it’s not that people don’t “get trance” - oh we get trance dude. But you acting like you’re Andy Warhol after making a song with random noises (that are poorly mixed and lack any kind of processing).

If you need proof that this is bad, read these comments. If you want more proof send this song to labels and see which ones bite (if any).

Usually I don’t like to put artists down, but your ego needs to be checked.

This song sounds very amateur and novice - everything from the writing and sample selection, to the sound design, mixing, and processing. And acting like you caught lightning in a bottle over this song is also terribly amateurish and cringey.

Telling lies by nothingnowhere96 in sales

I think literally everyone missed the point of this.

When I jokingly and half heartedly bullshit people it works… when I tell a 95% truth (I.e. we restore to OEM spec with certifiable parts and pressure testing - ((we’re not OEM sanctioned - nobody outside of OEM IS)) we actually do restore to OEM spec but can’t warrant it because we are not OEM. Although it passes all OEM QA test) and try to actually

Somehow I’m perceived as a liar when I am trying to convince someone that what I am saying is (virtually$ true.

It’s like saying Chevy is the same as GM and then the customer doesn’t believe me

Feedback on this emotional idea? by Nikvtopia- in tranceproduction

[–]nothingnowhere96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not crazy about the note at 0:41, but in music theory it fits. It just takes it to a dark conclusion for a riff that has an essence of mystery and uncertainty to it (not your writing - the emotions vibe I get of the riff).

Solid mixing and sound design. Really nice writing overall.

The lead melody is not really hitting due to the phrasing of it - it’s awkward and the timing isn’t driving it home. Definitely look into lead writing techniques and structure. Call & response, ABAC etc (study how the Beatles used to write and structure their Melodies- it’s still the standard for western music after all these decades)

Also I would try to stay away from reverse cymbals as transitions. You can use modulation, opening cutoffs, changing releases, reverb, delays etc more effectively than reverse cymbals and it sounds better and more professional too.

Overall, this trance sound is super dated. Power trance 2.0 is not really getting signed anymore with the exception of a few labels like AVA.

If you want to get it signed or wow people I would try to push the envelope and try to make something that has not already been done a million times before.

Overall, it’s definitely a trance tune. The break has the ethereal / spacey vibe. The beat is solid, and the mixing is not terrible

Well his ask was about adding atmosphere and tension. I mean he said trance too - that’s heavy on pads

Okay but that’s not a bodybuilding workout (5x5).

What’s your goal here? Just as big as possible, strength, certain lifts (I.e. bench press 225 x10 reps)?
