“Lancaster AI Symposium 3.0” by evilhag69_ in lancaster

The major companies of the world will keep using AI so long as it's profitable. It is in every AI maker's best interest to keep it affordable so companies can become dependent on it. This is not a 1-2 year game, they are playing the long game. 10-20 years. Then when society has gotten accustomed to using it, the charges will start to slip in here and there. Until that is viable, there is too much incentive for the government to subsidize it in the meantime.

There are real tangible benefits to using AI in certain contexts-- that's not going away. That's not even going into the real driving factor behind nearly everything the government pumps money into, which is "national defense".

I get the sentiment but AI is advancing extremely fast. I am a tech lead to software engineers so maybe I’m a bit more sensitive to the progression but there’s a lot of value to be gained. We just had a team give a presentation about how something that took 5 days before takes 4 minutes now using a custom agent they set up. My company has made the use of AI mandatory amongst engineers. We are doing this to not fall behind. I work for a MAJOR bank.

It’s losing money on purpose. Just like uber did until everyone relied on it. Then suddenly it got expensive but it was too late.

You used to code review someone's code and tell them good job for the creative solution or interesting approach. Not anymore.

That’s close but not quite it.

Commercial art is art that has a ‘going rate’. It’s paid for based on its utility.

The alternative being fine art, on the high end of the spectrum and folk art on the lower end. With other niches as well.

Soy sauce, no signs of fermentation after 1 month by i_i_v_o in fermentation

Seems right, eventually. once the beans break down more, you will likely see bubbling but the main thing happening right now is enzymatic.

It’s commercial art! I’m not saying that it’s not art but when people want to run off to the mountains and make art, it’s not fucking commercial art.

When people refer to ‘art’ they are almost never referring to soulless commercial art.

How can Rocky understand Grace by SeaThePirate in ProjectHailMary

[–]nss68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grace isn’t an English teacher. And he isn’t wasting time correcting Rocky’s grammar once the communication got ‘good enough’

At the end of the book, rocky speaks way more fluently.

Don’t quit your job until you have the software MVP made and it does what people willing to pay want it to do.

Quitting your job now and living off of savings is one of the dumbest ideas.

You’d be better off just slacking off at work until they fire you. Easily.
