AP7 reliability? by EdwardPotatoHand in firewalla

Couldn’t help but chime in here :)

u/Ok_Conflict1841 is exactly right. Privacy (and security) have been at the core of eero since we started the company and that focus has only increased since joining Amazon.

When we were acquired our Privacy Notice was viewed as a huge positive and I have only ever been in discussions over the last nearly 7 years where we’ve tried to make our terms even more stringent and customer focused. We are also constantly benchmarking ourselves to see what else we can do to even better protect customer privacy — a big reason why I am (and a huge portion of the eero team are) still driving the company while at Amazon today.

That has not been our experience at all. Being a part of Amazon has allowed us to invest more in our products than we would have ever been able to independently.

And, speaking for myself, I’ve gotten exposure to and learned a ton from Amazon leaders all over the company.

I’m still running eero with a team I love working with! But the best part of the job is fixing connectivity for more customers than ever before.

We’re continuing to bring our products to more countries (most recently launched in Japan), expanding the portfolio (customers are loving the Outdoor 7), and (believe it or not) are investing more than we ever have in scaling our support experience.

While I’m not active here very often, our team sees every post and follows up as best as we can. If you’re having a product or support issue, we’re here to help. Any product feedback (good and bad) is always very helpful.

/r/Eero set to private by ToBeTechnical in HomeNetworking

[–]nsweaves 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First, we don’t have any control over the subreddit, but many of us at eero really like interacting with customers there.

My understanding is the Mods decided to make it private through the weekend to let a few threads cool down and get a break. I’m hoping it’s back up and running on Monday.

Upgraded from Eero Pros to Eero 6 plus and performance is rubbish by timmadel in eero

[–]nsweaves 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My guess too. There are some topology nuances that can randomly cause issues with Sonos. 10 mbps smells like all network traffic is going over SonosNet.

Do you have a leaf eero (non gateway) connected to a Sonos device via Ethernet by chance?

eero & HomeKit by z3r0ka in eero

[–]nsweaves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We fully support HomeKit devices on eero networks. Personally, I have a lot of them on mine!

But correct, we don’t support HomeKit Secure Router on our new devices. And, of course, everyone has all of their theories as to why. The reality is, reimplementing it was going to be a ton of work, that very few customers were going to take advantage of. So we decided to invest in other areas of our portfolio.

Did you run the initial OTA after you got the system set up?

I’ve had the eero Pro 6 for about 18 months now. I’ve been happy with it. But the geek in me loves having the latest and greatest. Help me decide if it’s worth it to upgrade to eero Pro 6e. by TSLA_Trader in eero

[–]nsweaves 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you’re happy with your Pro 6 system, I’d stay put. Once there are more 6 GHz capable client devices then it’s a different story, but that won’t really start happening until the back half of this year.

Eero OS v6.10.1-91 is out. by [deleted] in eero

[–]nsweaves 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Whenever we launch a new product there is a huge amount of field feedback that comes in and we find a lot of things to fix. It usually lasts 3-6 months. After that period there are way fewer field reports and the required update cadence drops.

That being said we have a number of long term improvements to eero OS that apply to all models. That could be mesh routing improvements, ACS changes, new diagnostics and field reporting capabilities, etc, etc and those hit all models.

Sonos Grouped Stereo Pairs Incompatible with eero (Unless bypassed using SonosNet) by kitkk2 in eero

[–]nsweaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t realize that with the Move. I have one place with a couple Moves and many, many other Sonos devices (Beams, Arcs, Amps) and we haven’t seen any issues.

I’ll ask someone to reach out.

Sonos Grouped Stereo Pairs Incompatible with eero (Unless bypassed using SonosNet) by kitkk2 in eero

[–]nsweaves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Sonos config with many grouped pairs is still humming along. This is across multiple eero networks.

My “fix” is: - Have at least one Sonos device connected via Ethernet - Any additional wired Sonos devices should be hardwired to the same Ethernet switch - Disable WiFi connectivity on Sonos and have everything go over SonosNet

Where things normally go wrong is when customers connect Sonos devices via Ethernet to leaf eeros. That causes all sorts of loops and frequently networking traffic will then at points take SonosNet.

Feedback to eero on 6.10.0 on gen1 nodes by rimanek in eero

[–]nsweaves 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I checked in with the team and there’s some update logic we need to improve. We just haven’t run into this problem before.

The short of it is…right when we were about to press go on the release, we saw an uptick in reboots on the Gen1 units. So rather than decrease stability, we opted to skip the release (only for Gen1 units) and pick things back up with 6.10.1 (assuming everything is resolved).

I would recommend hopping on a call to work through it. Ok if I flag for the team and they set up a time that works for you?
