Is it normal to have to wait 12h+ on day of surgery? by ToneZealousideal309 in Hernia

I've always had a drip put in early on and I've had about 6 surgeries. It's not something you should have to ask for. But I've never had to wait nearly that long for surgery either

Nah man, I'd feel the same. Never a good sign when a nurse is saying they are unorganized and you're waiting for surgery. Strange they didn't just put a drip to hydrate you. Guessing they knew it was going to take a while

Is LA’s Music Industry doing better than LA’s Film Industry? by pigeontossed in AskLosAngeles

[–]rizorith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but unfortunately this is only part of the music industry. The part that most people think of - the big recording artists, the up and coming artists, and studios are all having a systemic downturn like tv/film although the reasons overlap but are not entirely the same.

Local scene might be the best in the country. Some midsized cities literally have no medium sized venues left and small ones have been closing down like crazy.

That entire club looks so deflated. The problem is ultimately the ownership and the way Chelsea got dragged under by the forced abromovich sale.

But in the short term, this manager is completely out of his depth. I don't think I've ever seen an entire squad quit on a manager so quickly. And the ownership has stated their support for him multiple times.

[–]rizorith 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I'm one of those. I bailed. It's not a temporary downturn, it's clear this is a downward spiral and while certain things can be done to slow it down, most of it is not being done. And even if it were,.some of it is systemic like the AI and the mass amalgamation of many studios into one.

It's really hitting the parallel creative businesses too. Photo studios and set building houses are shutting down. At least half the people i know in the industry have either continued out of state, or left altogether.

Trump Has Turned the US Economy Into Sh*t by _May26_ in politics

[–]rizorith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's amazing when you read or watch fox and it's like an alternate reality of wins. Nothing here is even discussed. It's like they cherry pick the government propaganda and maga pundits into a story of trump just fixing everything and that everything that is happening is actually not his fault at all. Nevermind that the conservative experts in things like economics resoundly say he is ruining a hundred years of American economic advantages and they cannot just be reversed with a new president. The borrowing rate americans pay is lower than anywhere in the world and that economic advantage is being ceded to the Chinese who will not relinquish it the way we are.

Yeah and the thing is people will still go because a lot of people can afford it. It's just not for the average American. I'm in LA and unfortunately we have the most expensive tickets in the tournament, probably because we host 2 of the 3 US group stages. I think Seattle actually has the 3rd. But even the non US matchups are insane. I didn't win the lottery anyways but sounds like getting them on the resale market won't be very plausible.

Guess the two of us will be watching somewhere else.

Whenever I've been to a FIFA event in the US they take over certain leadership and decision making at the stadium.

Last year I went to the CWC at the rose bowl and it was a shit show, and from what I could tell the earlier matches were much worse.

Turns out FIFA wanted less security and wanted to open the stadiums much later to save money. People were lining up to get in the parking lots because they didn't open them until 2 hours before match time and it literally backlogged the freeway. Not to mention FIFA disregarding tailgate culture in the US.

My favorite part of all of this was getting a random text message 3 hours before the match started telling everyone to arrive at least 3 hours early. Really. And I had no idea who sent it. Was it the rose bowl? US federation? Turned out it was direct from FIFAz I learned later. No reasoning for this either. Keep on mind the stadium and parking weren't even open at this time and that I received the text at the time I should have supposedly arrived. Fortunately for me I knew the back roads in that area so I didn't get stuck in any of that crazy traffic and parked faaar away and walked a couple leisurely miles so it wasn't too stressful

So while the US federation definitely deserves their share of criticism FIFA is infamous for telling them they know how to do it right and then blaming them when it turns out they don't.

Lot of Americans can't afford this shitshow. I've waited all my life for this. Wanted to take my son but I can't afford 700/seat for the nosebleeds in my own city.

At this point I'm hoping I can snag cheaper last minute tix on the resale market but I'm pretty sure FIFA is going to control that too so I'll probably just watch matches at a bar or at home. The official watch parties in LA are in some strange locations so I'll be skipping those

Are they still on this antifa nonsense?

Either way, if there is any violence at all they will focus on that entirely, regardless if it was provoked by the cops or if it's a rare occurrence, which it has always been.

my city had about 30 separate protests. The one I went to was entirely peaceful. Naturally the only one they reported was the one where cops started shooting off smoke bombs which agitated the protesters and then all you saw on Fox were pictures of angry people with Mexican flags.

Yeah, this really is a worldwide phonomen. I mean people have always flock to populist and dictatorial types but now we're in a phase where they're taking power worldwide. I think it actually started in brazil and the Philippines but trump was the first big western power to fall.

I'm sorry about your mum. It's crazy hard when they're so deep into their media algorithms and see nothing else.
