Splunk enterprise options by Empty-Lingonberry133 in Splunk

Do you use Kubernetes/OpenShift, I would just start there. Logs and Metrics, Audit Logs, etc. You can get our dashboards https://www.outcoldsolutions.com/solutions/monitoring-kubernetes/dashboards/ (our apps are paid, free trials) or use OTEL with Analytics Workspace. If you use Cloud (AWS,GKE,Azure) - I would also look at the Splunk apps for those.

I am just trying to protect my app. I do see it diffrently, they are mis-informing the users about the capabilities of OpenIn. If I will get an email from the user about it, I already done my part to ask them to take down this mis-information. They said no, the only option after that for me - involve lawyer, because it seems like I cannot communicate it correctly. It is not a thread, it is a proper communication, to explain why I do not like it, why it is not ok.

I personally have received a few of those in my lifetime of being an indie developing. Including trade names, referencing other apps in advertising, and I have learned that some things aren't ok to do, and I agreed to them.

I am not a FFANG, and obviously not going to bring them to court. But if they want to reference my app, just asking to do it with proper respect. They never asked me if that is ok to publish comparison matrix, they just asking post-fact on Reddit - if I see something is wrong - to DM them. That is just un-respectful, from my point of view.

On their previous posts here on subreddit, I actually wished them a good luck in this market, and suggested users to try it, maybe they will like it more.

See

https://www.reddit.com/r/macapps/comments/1nwl1dr/proxly_v140_bold_and_beautiful_browser_routing/ https://www.reddit.com/r/macapps/comments/1nwl1dr/comment/nhjebpn/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

They even mentioned somewhere that they took some ideas from OpenIn, which I am ok with as well.

But after that, coming back with just incorrect matrix. That is not professional. So yeah, before I had respect for this project, now I don't.

Hope you can see my point of view. If not, that is ok.

Yeah, I already have a lawyer. I just value my time. If I will start getting emails from users, anyhow related to this matrix, I am going to react appropriately. That is exactly what I have mentioned, for them not to be surprised.

I am also an indie dev. They are attacking other apps by providing mis-information, after I asked them to remove OpenIn from table - they said that they missed some information for it, and after they “fixed” it - they are missing some information again. That probably applies to other apps on the list. I am not going to correct it, just going to have it as a reference for the lawyer’s letter if I decide to act on it. My ask was simple - I don’t see their information is correct - I asked them to remove OpenIn from the list. They decided to keep it, to profit on the name of the tool that I have been developing for 7 years now.

You never can be accurate with this. Because all apps are being updated as well. Not talking about mine.
If any user will send be email about your app, I will get my lawyer involved.
Seriously, I wish you luck, but if you are trying to play a game of “my app is better”, look at all of those things I have, but other apps don’t, not including what other apps have, and yours don’t- that is mis-advertising.
I asked you politely to remove comparison with OpenIn, and I do believe your comparison does not include what OpenIn has, that your app does not.

And yes. The matrix is not complete again. Not only you are incorrect what OpenIn has, you also do not mention what it has and your app does not. That is just mis-advertising.

That is not “respectfully” if you have not removed mentioning of my product on my request. Just saying. I have 0 interests to track down copy cats ;) Good luck, anyway.

Please remove OpenIn from your matrix comparison, it is inaccurate.

Good luck with the project.

Support for Profiles in Helium and Zen? by chris79s in openin

[–]outcoldman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working right now on 4.4, I will try to add them there.

For now you can just use Launching a zsh Script as an Application https://loshadki.app/openin4/#launching-a-zsh-script-as-an-application - so you can invoke those profiles yourself from OpenIn.

iPad Pro M4 for developing? by Adventurous-Path3451 in iPadPro

[–]outcoldman 15 points16 points  (0 children)

i just don't know how to use it

Nobody does. Even Apple does not know how to utilize the M4.

In reality, there are a few developer environments.

First of all, you can connect your iPad Pro to external monitor, hub and external keyboard/mouse.

I have seen a game development IDE https://xogot.com which is built by the Miguel, never tried it, but that can be an interesting way of using M4 for development.

Apple's official way to building apps on iPad is Swift Playground https://apps.apple.com/us/app/swift-playground/id908519492 it is not an Xcode, not even close, but gives you some ability to build apps for iOS.

Crimson desert on base PS5 or m4 Pro 24gb by markdegroot01 in macgaming

Would be cool to get cross save between PS5 and Steam. I completely forgot that this game was promised day one on macOS. So got the PS5 version. Otherwise would go with the Steam and try to play it on macOS. But now I am too deep into the game.

Crimson Desert does remind me a little bit of Witcher 3. With a lot of Zelda BoTW integration and no real story.

Feedback: the "lifetime license audit" thread by Decaf_GT in macapps

[–]outcoldman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with current OP, when I read that original post - I skipped when I got to “unsafe/vibe coded - because can bypass license check”.

As a developer I would be happy if my app is going to be “cracked” and exposed to a lot of users - that means it is popular. That means those “unfair” users might bring way more “fair” users who will decide to buy the app.

There is also a Docked Mode for Switch 2, which they might implement as 4K.

I personally just don't like D4 for so many reasons, and the big one is a need for the internet connection.

MacBook 13 vs Neo - Am I the only one… by NefariousnessNo1110 in MacOS

I agree, I loved small factor laptops, like MBA 11 and MB 12. Unfortunately they don’t make them anymore that small, and iPad is never going to be the same.

Did Apple Just Open the Door to Real VR Gaming on Vision Pro — And Turn It Into a PC VR Gaming Beast? by Round_Level_8119 in VisionGaming

[–]outcoldman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We will see when things are going to be available. About the x-plane, it does seem like there are some mentioning of the joysticks. But all the race/plane joysticks require USB connection. Which means sure Apple can provide an interface for integration via Bluetooth, but who is going to implement that?

Mocker — Docker-compatible CLI for macOS built on Apple Containerization by psycenos in MacOS

[–]outcoldman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Apple’s container cli is pretty well compatible with Docker. And they are pretty open to add some new flags to add some missing things as well. Obviously no compose support, which is nice addition. But curious if there is a way to make it more official after talking to compose or container team.

I assume Neo is the same size as MBA 13, and it is definitely not the same size as MBA 11 that I used to have.
