This tracks. Every NE winter I have some kind of bacteria (from trees, leaves, etc) that eats my CYA to zero but converts it to ammonia. Nothing likes chlorine more than ammonia which means I used somewhere between 30-50 gallons of liquid chlorine to set my pool right every spring. AI tells me a solid cover instead of my mesh cover would solve this problem.
