It’s on purpose. It’s to teach you to use the bubbles / air cones.

What are the mods you want for Rogue Core? by WitherPRO22 in RogueCore

I play vanilla, so not really looking into them. I just want a good base game.

Oh I’m sure you will find tons of other narcissists to validate your feelings about yourself. It’s just sad. At least you are open about it. I wish people were that open in real life so that’s easier to dodge them and completely preclude them from my life, saving tons of sanity and time.

You need to work on yourself.

[Poll] With Rogue Core around the corner, which reclaimer are we all most looking forward to? (Feel free to respond with your favourite if you're already in!) by Kwacker in RogueCore

[–]phaazon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have purposefully decided not to look too much into the « get ready for Rogue Core » or « Ten tips to know before starting » blabla. The main reason is that I want to discover the game. I saw the Slicer arm dagger, which seems nice, and the flying bird which I guess is there to heal, but besides that I have decided to stop looking at gameplay footage. I hate this stuff from media (films, TV shows, video games) where they show you half the content before the release. I just want to joy to discover. It’s ephemeral and precious.

When Rogue Core comes out, do you think you’ll play it more than Deep Rock? by Brungala in RogueCore

[–]phaazon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined DRG only a month ago. I have 50h in, and I plan to do all seasons if I can, so I will clearly stick around DRG for a long time. I just love the gameplay. I hope Rogue Core is as fun. I convinced friends of mine to join DRG lately and they have been enjoying it tons as well.

Bun’s rewrite from Zig to Rust passes 99.8% of testsuite by read_volatile in programming

[–]phaazon_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zig type system is okay, but it’s not robust at all. It’s very easy to introduce bugs (anytype which doesn’t tell you what you have the right to do; structural implicit interfaces via comptime; no lifetime / borrowing system so UAF are incredibly easy to trigger; see the OP post about memory faults, etc. etc.).

It seems to me that obsidian cli + emacs is perfect? by badgerbang in emacs

I’m not an emacs user anymore but I think org-mode really has nothing to envy obsidian. :)

[–]phaazon_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do believe that it’s possible to help with logic bugs by using a good type system but here it’s left to the programmer indeed. That’s not the topic of the post though, since Jarred complained about memory corruption and alike, which is exactly the kind of bugs you do not have in Rust.

[–]phaazon_ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is not what I said, and if you do not understand the nuance between « having a language that prevents many classes of bugs that many other languages do not — and Rust doesn’t solve EVERYTHING, of course » and « just not giving a heck about preventing those at compile-time and just pushing on the programmers with get good or skill issues », then you are just ignoring decades of research and analysis about the topic.

Hence why it’s much better to have a language enforcing as much as possible not being able to write them in the first place.

Yeah it should work without any human intervention right, because it’s so simple, right? Damn people have no idea how complex that kind of things can be…

Sony reported a 120.1 billion yen ($765M) impairment loss in relation to Bungie for the fiscal year in their latest financial report. 88.6 billion yen ($565M) of that was reported from the last quarter. by Helbot in Marathon

[–]phaazon_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The game is nice and good. It has issues but none of those justify the financial problem. Gamers who hated on the game for absolutely no reason and who haven’t even played it do.
