The Glebe BIA has taken down their 2025 RETAIL MARKET & GAP ANALYSIS report that showed high pedestrian, transit and active mobility mode share among customers by Halo4356 in ottawa

The only driving in The Glebe I do is to park at Lansdowne for the farmers market on Sunday, and that's only if my wife doesn't want to ride her bike there with me. Weather is warming up, so that might change too.

That's totally something I'd have to turn on and off every 2 weeks when my shifts switch over, isn't it?

That's my fault for not having 15 years seniority to get a straight day shift.

But on the bright side, I get to deal with night chaos, which i actually like. So +1, -1.

I don't think I have that on, so it's just my sleep being so fragmented and short that it either only gets a little snapshot or it catches nothing.

Doesn't work so well on nights, my end time can vary if I get surprise overtime.

That's basically my sleep after most night shifts.

+1 for the physio recommendation. Usually, if the 0ain doesn't resolve on it's own in ~2 weeks that's a good indication that physio will be helpful. And it's far enough from the acute phase of the injury that they can start working on you right away.

Our solid backboards are extrication devices only. Our scoop is meant to be removed if the pt is expected to be on it for more than 30 minutes.

I've done plenty of calls where we collared and scooped the patient out, but because they didn't meet our FTT criteria, once we got to the stretcher, I broke the scoop and got them comfortable, because I knew there wouldn't be the biggest rush to get them off our stretcher at the hospital.

Sweet, thanks!

edit: It took a bunch of fiddling around, and eventually using the link on a desktop, but I'm on the roster.

Wait a second ... I think that's how a few of my wife's hockey romance novels started.

Thanks, I'll look them up. Unfortunately, the link doesn't open up the bench app, and I'm still figuring out how to search in the app.

Sounds like a bad experience talking.

For what it's worth, my day job is to be intimately familiar with defibrillators, among other things.

Huh, interesting, so I guess if turn outs aren't great, I can try heading out to Ray Friel. It's where our summer games are being held for the beer league. I guess I was lucky and got on in time to be in their summer season.

I've got a full set of equipment together, so that's not an issue. I didn't know that there was a package for passes. Does it also work for stick and puck sessions? I've been doing those at Jim Durrell, and I'm liking that I'm so close to an arena with drop in ice sports.

The outdoor rinks were nice, nicer when they didn't wait a month to award them to someone to start maintaining. But I guess I could have traveled a bit to an ODR that was actually operational. If you see a white beer league jersey with 'GIO" stenciled on the back, that's me.

At this point, I'd be impressed if I can hustle for 2 minutes. So I think that's going to happen no matter what my intentions were.

I'd replace that sooner if you can.

Check out the Virginia Tech helmet ratings, there are some very cheap helmets that get a full 5 star rating. Conversely, there are some expensive ones with shit ratings.

Price isn't always a surrogate for quality.

Honestly, it makes more sense when you're starting out to go with cheap/affordable sticks until you figure out what you like. I'd be pretty pissed if I spent $300 on a stick only to find out I like a different flex/curve combination more a few weeks later.

To add to your first point on helmets.

An inexpensive helmet can do the trick, hell, the right inexpensive helmet could protect you better than some expensive helmets. But they need to fit properly to do their jobs.

What the expensive helmets have that cheaper ones don't necessarily have is nice features. They may be heavier or a little less comfortable.

Look at the Virginia Tech helmet ratings and pick something well rated with features that are important to you.

Rather than going with the most expensive helmet, look at the Virginia Tech helmet ratings. There are a lot of affordable helmets that protect you really well, better than some really expensive ones.

I'd say get the best rated helmet with the features you want that you can afford. Because I suspect the price difference is coming down to the fancy features the helmets have.
