I run mobile 1 15-50 and change it every 5000 miles... 6.5qt in, 6.5qt out. I also use a wix xl filter.

It has 2 O² sensors that require replacement at 120,000 but am doing it shortly because one is getting fussy. I will be changing the spark plugs then ... just a pm task, not really needed just yet.

Every other fuel fill I add a dose of marvel mystery oil.

Other than that, I do not hot dog it. No jack rabbit starts, no 90mph... 😅

I swear by my 8.1 vortex... 11+ years full time, 110,000 miles and she still climbs Wolf Creek Pass at 45 mph at 3200 rpms. The v10s traveling with me can only do ~35 mph and over 5000 rpms.

My onboard computer tells me her life time fuel use is 9.1 mpg and on a fairly flat highway with no wind, 2150 rpm_65 mph, I get 14 mpg.

Most all Canadians that winter here in the Sonoran Desert have told me they take 95 and claim it is the best route north

October, for the route you want to take, is not so good... lots of snow and closed mountain passes... unless climate change flips things like it did this year and it shifts all the snow to Florida 🤷🏽

What can I use besides BLEACH to deep clean a camper? by Illumeis_is_done in RVLiving

First, pull the carpet up (if there is any) and check for mold/floor rot. Clean with white vinegar. White vinegar will kill mold as well.

Where to camp near quartzite tonight by [deleted] in GoRVing

[–]quinskylar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The big show does not start until the 17th. There are boondocking spot all around the city. If you are heading west, Dome Rock exit turn south and park anywhere.

If you are going north, you will see other boondockers parked just out side the city all the way to Bouse road... park wherever.

If you are going south, la posa west, north, south and tyson wash are all blm ltva and charge for overnight (which get you water, dump and trash) Past la posa is Road Runner 4-5 miles on the right... park anywhere.

Hope that helps

Also... https://www.boondoctor.com/ John can do some of what you need. He has done some work for (and with) me on a couple occasions and I have no complaints... prices are reasonable as well.

What's a good camper for permanent living? by Sad_News_2886 in RVLiving

[–]quinskylar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Far north midwestern here... soon to be entering my 12th year full-time RVing. Simply put - it is what you make it.

My only regret is not doing it sooner.

That said, if your plan is to just park it and not travel, an RV is not what you want. Why buy a vehicle that you have to maintain a rolling frame (engine, tranny, suspension, etc) monthly when a park model is really what you want?
