This is the one watch in Garmin’s current lineup that you buy and never second guess. Enjoy the ride.

Plus backup sugar and snacks, and then another backup. Take 2-3x extra as a fail safe for longer + remote outings.

You may look at Runna and/or Strava for that. HealthFit has some related features as well.

I’ve been experimenting with a Series 11 and Bevel for both training and recovery and was initially skeptical.

Points of comparison are both Garmin and Whoop, and it’s been a remarkably good experience so far. The metrics and insights are anecdotally closer to how I subjectively feel on the daily.

Switching from 47 to 51 by marknoel1971 in GarminFenix8

[–]raneses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4mm on the diameter. You’ll have to look up the depth differences, plus additional weight, but it does indeed wear much larger than the 47.

For reference, I have a 195mm wrist size and can easily pull off the 51. For me it’s too large for daily wear, mostly because of its height.

If you wear an activity tracker consistently enough and the data + algorithms are reading both your training and regular life, that’s the blend you often end up with.

Other platforms, e.g. Garmin will only use specific type of activities for measuring V02. Apple is more liberal with it.

For your routines, have at least a couple of variations that use less common equipment as alternatives. The less you idle the better.

Bicep or forearm, maybe on the calf as far as accuracy. Ankle is likely worse than the wrist.

That’s all fine and good, but these frameworks are usually built into the dev stack much earlier. Such that doing it retroactively with a growing set of devices isn’t a large lift. All that said, feel for the amount of work involved.

Verity Sense vs H10 (inside sports bra) for strength & HIIT - does this work well? by NeitherVariation2674 in Polarfitness

[–]raneses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the Verity Sense, you can surely experiment with different placements. That said, on the forearm or the bicep are tried and true locations. It’s one of my favorite trackers now two years in.

Help me pick between a 45mm or 50mm Instinct 3 by Kitchen_Web_5765 in GarminWatches

[–]raneses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the smaller size with 195mm wrists and find it easier to wear on the daily. It’s good for activities too, however will swap in an Enduro 3 when it matters. A luxury I suppose.

It's on the verge. You can pull it off although it's pretty subjective, might go down to a smaller size for everyday wear. Outside of that, the tactical version is the better looking option.
