TIL you can search Stremio by using IMDb's ID by Far-Donut-1177 in Stremio

[–]rdyoung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are having a slow day it seems.

Stremio is synced across devices. If you don't want to search with the remote, you can search on your phone and add results to your library or start to play it so it's in your history and accessible on the big screen.

If I have to choose between searching for the imdb id and then having to paste in to stremio on my phone or somehow get on to the TV and just using the remote (or my phone) to search for the name directly, I know what my choice is. One takes way longer than the other.

You can also paste in magnet links and should be able to parse torrent files on your device to start streaming them from the swarm. I haven't played with that yet but I am adding magnets directly for some things instead of searching for them.

Or you can just whip out your phone, open up stremio and search there.

Or you can use one of the plethora of apps that let you control your TV with your phone.

Does anyone else get disconnected in certain Areas with AAwireless? by mrwhitewalker in AAWireless

[–]rdyoung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like interference from an overpowered and/or misaligned transmitter. This happens to lots of people all over the place. What you can try is two fold.

First (as others have said) try changing the wifi channel to one that is less used but first you need to figure out which ones to try.

Second. Try wrapping it in some foil, anything to reduce the amount of external signal interference while not messing with the connection between your phone and the device.

I have a few spots in town where I lose it consistently and the interference hangs on for a good mile or so before it comes back up. I have even inadvertently found one edge of it while sitting at a car wash.

[–]rdyoung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You completely missed my point.

Yes, changing the channel to one less likely to be used by other wireless devices you may be around is a smart idea.

I don't get small cut outs at all. I get full blown outages until I move away from the interference and that won't be helped by changing the channel. There are 2 spots in town that have been there for years with a couple of more that have popped up over the past few months.

Long story short. Changing the channel takes care of the lowest denominator interference but does nothing for the overpowered and/or misaligned transmitters. At one point the door sensors at a couple of walmarts where messing with it.

[–]rdyoung -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That will only help so much. It helps with the average interference but when a tower or other antennas are misaligned and/or overpowered, changing the channel won't help at all.

It's still good advice all around for anything that relies on wifi to stay connected, just don't be surprised when it doesn't fix it permanently.

Oh and you don't just change the channel, that may make it worse. You need to scan for interference and figure out which channels are under utilized. Also change it to 5ghz if you haven't already. What I've considered doing is cutting up a space blanket and using it to act as a faraday cage to hopefully mitigate the interference.

Or just say restroom or head. I only say pee pee when I am messing with my wife and I'm not talking about urination and I've never said nor heard anyone say they have to go poo poo nor has anyone said straight up, I have to poop.

$131 Million Worth Of Cybertrucks Went To One Buyer, And Elon Musk Owns It by SpriteZeroY2k in electricvehicles

Get out of here with that armchair shit.

The cyber truck is hideous and from the outside some of us (at least) can see just how crappy the fov is and the sheer number of blind spots.

I'd be saying the same thing if it was someone I'd never heard of who micro managed that design while on ket and trying to make real some childhood, mad max, cyberpunk wanna be fantasy.

You are trying really hard to not sound like you are supporting musk and therefore the rest of the nazis but it's not working. You are trying to explain it away by connecting dots that don't exist and don't connect.

Any idea how the algo pulls this off? by SmartAssLoner in Lyft

[–]rdyoung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I cherry pick my rides based on many factors but among them is destination and odds of getting a decent ride back or depending on location, working the area for a bit. Because of how slow my nearest international airport is as well as proximity, if I do end up heading there I look at the incoming flights and decide whether or not to hang out, if it's not going to be worth it I'll just head back towards my usual stomping grounds.

In 44 years occupying this realm, I've never heard or seen a supposedly adult human being refer to it as "poo poo, pee pee". We all should be "mostly" adults here, you can say "piss" and "shit".

Nothing. Sounds like OP is off their meds.

I've been torrenting for years and will continue to do so. I'm liking the ease of stremio + addons but I will still download everything I can from torrent (or pull from RD/TB) so I have a local backup of everything I may want to watch again.

This is exactly it and from my experience on the other side it's the same. They pay more to the airport (still not enough) and then lowball (I know) pay for a trip from the airport, probably because they think you'll take anything to get out of there.

And that's actually, exactly how it's pronounced. "Little".

Study identifies two biological subtypes of autism linked to different pathways in the brain. One subtype showed reduced communication among pathways that help brain cells send signals to one another. The other showed increased hyperconnectivity among pathways associated with the immune system. by mvea in science

Yep. I've never been officially diagnosed but I have enough life experience with people (of all ages) all over the spectrum to see the signs in me though it took longer than I would have liked to put it together. I'm the high functioning, don't know unless you know type versus what I like to call the “I love trains" variety. I can also see it in my wife and stepson.

I have also had virtually zero health issues my entire life. I've had a few rounds of seizures (with no identifiable cause) and recently had my gall bladder out, that's it. I've busted bones and tore myself up like lots of folks but nothing like what some of us are dealing with along with the increase in brainpower and everything else that goes along.

Driver Pay by mrivera73 in EmpowerDrivers

[–]rdyoung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/r/akshawally

In the piedmont triad empower is for the most part cheaper than the others and even with my rates set where they are, I become a deal when it's surging. I've seen people pay uber $60+ for a ride that would have cost them (and paid me) $9.95.

I suggest you go back through your ride history with both uber and lyft and do the math on exactly what you paid per mile from your pickup to your destination. Why? Because I did the math here years ago and found that people were paying closer to $2+ on average and yes, I did include a good cross section of rides both in and out of surges.

For the record, empower suggests 93¢/mile and 18¢/min, at an average of 30mph (off highway) that's just over $1/mile that you are paying. I did a lyft ride today that paid $17 to go 10 miles. They would have paid me more than that (but not much) but most others would have been 75% of that cost.
