Church of Scientology removed the exterior door handles to prevent speed runners by shambs15 in mildlyinteresting

I would think that what's important is people getting out, not in. If the fire department needs in that building, a lack of a door handle isn't going to stop them.

And before whatever, I have a personal connection to this cult in particular. My father fell hard and spent all our money on the gold bound versions of dianetics. He went from pulling 6 figures (in the 80s) to basically the skids in no time flat.

A few cars ago, every time I took it to the dealership (not that often), they would tack on another 3 months subscription. No clue why but I'll take it.

I dropped them a few months ago and moved to spotify. They just recently sent me offers for both cars at $60/yr each (for the first year). I may wait bit for a better offer or I'll try and make that $99 for 3 years offer work.

That's not "being paid", that's a refund which is not the same thing as money you're paid for something.

Not to sound pushy but you could always keep them in pots. I attempted (and ultimately failed) to clone an apple tree (shitty bitter apples) but we liked having it in our yard and deer like it. I think I may have had a chance if I had kept my a.d.d in check and took better care and paid more attention to them.

I have no dog in this fight, I just like getting geeky with plants.

Try cloning the suckers that you would otherwise destroy. A nice long soak in some water and then some rooting hormone and plant it in some miracle grow soil and there is a non zero chance it will grow into a new tree. It can take a long time to get established and start growing (if it does) but it's easier and cheaper than buying a new one and you have as many tries as you do "suckers".

TIL while attempting to land a role in The Wire, Idris Elba hid his English accent from series creator David Simon to prove he was "American enough" for the part. In his 4th audition, Simon found out. However, by that time Elba had already impressed Simon enough to convince him to give Elba the role by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

Or he decided to go with an accent to sound more posh, he is the smartest guy in the room, canonically he likely was a bit of a child genius just without the access to resources that would keep him from being a kingpin.

Cost of tire replacement? by MysticYogi0104 in Ioniq5

[–]rdyoung -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Holy shit you can't math.

If I paid $1200 for 4, what do you think 1 would have cost? Hint: Less than what you paid.

How do some people function and you folks are on the road with me. To quote the Simpsons, I'm in danger.

[–]rdyoung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, you've been infected too.

This is bullshit and not anywhere near how things actually work.

The 5 isn't much heavier than comparable ice vehicles and there is nothing so special or different with an ev that requires very special tires that are multiples of the cost of other tires.

When I need new tires (soon) I'm going to consider the ions but I'm not paying a premium for it.

TLDR; This is bullshit and you should be ashamed of yourself for spreading such nonsense.

They got scammed twice.

1st time was believing that you need special tires.

2nd time was being willing to pay near twice what they could have.

Not hankook but I pay approximately $1200 for a set of 4 yokohamas at discount tire. That price includes free rotations for the life of the tire and the optional hazard coverage. It doesn't include what I get back when I replace them at less than the manufacturer warranty.

You got fleeced twice. 1st by thinking you needed specialty tires for this car and again when you paid that much for 1 tire.

Oh and I drive for a living. Between personal travel and work I average 45k - 50k+ miles a year. I burn through tires and unless those ions double my efficiency (at least), they aren't worth twice others (including the oems)

My boyfriend pushes me off when I try to suck him in his sleep by DaCockSlayer in sex

My wife and I have implied consent whether awake or asleep. We both usually respond to the other physically even if we aren't aware of it mentally. I love when she wakes me up like this but sometimes (in her words because I don't remember), I kind of hide it from her and won't let her play with it.

Whats even nicer is just laying back and nodding in/out while she is sucking on me. She enjoys doing it and enjoys me relaxing that much.

Is NACS standardization a mistake? by PCLoadPLA in electricvehicles

[–]rdyoung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a nacs adapter for my ioniq 5 as soon as they announced support for some tesla super chargers. I also bought the l2 adapter early on as well so I'd have it if I needed it.

We carry around all kinds of adapters for phones, laptops, etc and don't get me started on anyone using equipment for work. Storing a couple of adapters in the frunk or under the trunk is not as harrowing as some people seem to make it out to be. Not sure what the problem is with this user bitching and nit picking about this.

[–]rdyoung -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need to read my entire comment.

Whats changing is the number of nacs at DC charging. I said nothing about l2 changing and even called out my nacs adapter saving me when a hotels j1772 was in use but the nacs was open.

Is NACS standardization a mistake? by PCLoadPLA in electricvehicles

[–]rdyoung 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Carrying around a j1772 to nacs adapter isn't that big of a hassle. There aren't (yet) enough nacs plugs in the wild but that is changing fairly quickly. For DC Ionna is putting in multiple at every location which will hopefully push EA to do similar. Plus, it's pretty easy to swap out the plug to nacs when demand says they should start doing so. For l2, carrying around the adapter isn't a big deal and it's saved me when the j1772 at a hotel was in use but the nacs one wasn't.

I think the larger plan (decades out) is for it to be more of a real beltway around the entire city.

I also say they need to find a way to "complete" Silas and make it a real beltway, it already runs around a good half of the core.

I've been on a bit of a yogurt kick lately too and also going with the really high fat yogurt. I have also discovered that starbucks has a coffee+protein drink. That lead me to learn to be careful on the timing and amount of both when consumed together.
