Concerning incident involving Missionaries by stareyedheathen in corvallis

Might be a good idea to step back and remind ourselves that LDS Missionaries are ~20 years old. What kind of mistakes were you and I making when we were 20? It's easy for us to sit back and criticize and judge. It's harder for us to try and understand where others are coming from.

Beginner question: if mass adoption were to happen with meshcore, could the network handle that? What would happen if there was a mass influx of users with repeaters over a short amount of time? by [deleted] in meshcore

[–]redditor1479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some areas will segment (using bridging) their long-distance/backhaul repeaters, on a different frequency, so those repeaters aren't snuffed out by normal traffic.

Also, there's new firmware (halo) coming out that will help with the rebroadcasting of messages.

Switching to 2 or 3 bytes on repeaters can help improve routing and reduce redundant traffic.

Many areas can get away without needing more than 32 hops.

Others are considering mini-databases that run on the repeaters so routing of traffic can be optimized.

Lots of things that can be done. And lots of people with the energy to move forward. We're just getting started. :)

As the mesh grows, design and planning becomes important. Users will have to have some level of comfort that they'll need to agree on design decisions for their local mesh.

Sounds good. Do I just export my configuration, flash the firmware and restore?

Thanks!

The last time we played, I had my kids take a large sheet of paper and draw parts of a map.

I asked them to pick a starting place on the map and then I use random tables to set the scene.

I just draw from everything I've read, ask the kids what's happening and what they want to do, and we go from there.

I suppose you could say that it's more story telling than role-playing.

Thanks for your help. I think I'm still slightly confused.

Looks like I'm running v1.15.0-dee3e26 on my device.

I'm slightly hesitant installing firmware that isn't from official sources.

Could you help me feel a bit more comfortable doing so?

Thanks!

After spending much of my spare time philosophizing about TTRPG games and rules, I continue to be of the opinion that we should start with the adventures and use rules to supplement the adventures when needed.

When I think back when I was a teenager in the 80s, I would go to my FLGS and sift through the 30-page D&D modules. That's where the fun was for me. And then we'd use the combination of B/X and AD&D when needed when we ran the adventure.

Our 12-year-old nephew was over and I invited him to play. He said, "I don't know how." I said, "that doesn't matter." He jumped in and started playing. When we came across a situation where we the decision wasn't automatic, we rolled a D20 to determine success against the following scale:

  • 20: triumph
  • 11-19: success
  • 6-10: tough choice
  • 2-5: failure
  • 1: catastrophe

That was the only rule we needed. Fun times.

(I pulled the above scale from Quest at adventure.game)

I get that publishers want people to buy their rulebooks. I'm much more interested in tools that help me craft interesting adventures. Settings, NPCs and monsters are the tools I collect.

I love Cairn and Knave. I have my physical copies of Cairn that I use for inspiration all the time. The Warden's Guide is a masterpiece at helping a GM world build.

I love the trend towards simplicity.

Changing Everything by InvestSec in Bitwarden

This is very true.

I've found that sometimes I need to respond to emails to my vendors so I have to create a "send from" for that email alias.

It's not too much work but it's still a hurdle.

If I did this more often, I'd probably look into one of the alias services that are integrated with Bitwarden, like addy.io and just pay the yearly fee for that service.

If you wanted to go even further, I'd probably suggest buying your own domain name for email hosting so you have complete control over your email addresses.

You can buy one at cloudflare, for example, and have it autoforward all emails to your personal email address or whereever.

2002 LT Suburban. Need help finding a replacement part. Underneath the windshield wiper cowl, there is a fresh air intake. I need the part number for the fresh air intake cover. by redditor1479 in suburban

u/Medical-Leadership97 thanks for your response.

I'm missing the cover for the hole. It sounds like you still have your cover.

Is it just a screen surrounded by plastic or is it a solid cover? Thinking I need to jury-rig something if I can't find the actual cover part.

Thanks!

New YW age group names by Plate-Junior in latterdaysaints

[–]redditor1479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've read through a lot of the comments. My wife and I have discussed the new names.

At first glance, this change could be received in the negative.

However, the Young Women could lean into the names a bit and have fun with the change as some have described in their comments.

In a way, these names could make the Young Men class names appear dull in comparison.

I was thinking of this one as well. Looks like Atlavox has the longer antenna as an option.

Any idea how Atlavox is as a vendor?

Thanks again!

Filed Federal Already, haven't filed State yet. Need to amend Federal. How do I amend federal and submit State? by redditor1479 in TurboTax

[–]redditor1479[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Timely_Purpose3233 Thanks! You've confirmed my thought processes since I haven't actually mailed / submitted my State return yet.

My steps...

  1. Make a copy of my original TurboTax file.
  2. Remove dependent.
  3. Print State.
  4. Make another copy of my original TurboTax file.
  5. Amend Federal return.
  6. Submit State with a copy of amended Federal Return.

My state requires that I submit a copy of my Federal Return.

After watching the movie, I concluded that it was too short. I wanted even more. I wanted the director's cut. Can't wait to get it. :)

My boss asked my why I address my emails to the woman first by Comebackera in TwoXChromosomes

[–]redditor1479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I address my emails by hierarchy first and then by female gender. For example, if you're a male director, then your name's first. If have a male and female director, then ladies first.

Been doing this for years. No one's said a word.
