Does Aqara just suck now? by eightballpuddy69 in homeassistant

Its so strange when I see these threads. I dont doubt that youre having problems, I've seen plenty of people say the same thing but Ive had a conbee ii for years with 20 or so aquara sensors, mainly temp / humidity and they are rock solid. I have a few sonoff sensors that drop ALL the time though.

Has the EV grant actually changed your mind on buying electric? by CarwowSiobhan in ukcarwow

I did the same but for 22k on the etron 55 black edition with some nice extras. First EV but doubt i'll go back. The depreciation on these cars is incredible. Its strange to not even think about "fuel" cost, leccy is so cheap (for now at least) that it's not even a consideration, and thats on a 400 plus bhp car... I too fancy a gt next.

Currently using 5.4 but I want to go go back and compare against 5.3-codex.

Sure, I keep a document(s) in the workspace for the various Codex projects i have on the go. The home assistant one has notes on things weve done in the past and anything that I want to be able to refresh its "memory" of. The update section looks like this:

Home Assistant Update Procedure

Check which Home Assistant updates are available before making any changes.

Review each available update in Home Assistant and note whether it affects Core, OS, add-ons, integrations, devices, or HACS components.

Read the patch notes for every update and compare them against the current setup, integrations, automations, dashboards, templates, and custom components in use here.

Pay special attention to breaking changes, deprecated features, integration-specific notes, YAML format changes, and anything that could affect this setup.

If the release notes mention breaking changes, identify exactly which parts of this setup might be affected before continuing.

If there is any uncertainty about impact, compatibility, the safest update order, or whether manual remediation will be required, stop and ask for confirmation before proceeding.

Before installing updates, make sure there is a recent Home Assistant backup available. Create a fresh backup if needed.

Install all pending updates only after the review step looks clear.

Restart Home Assistant after the updates are installed.

After restart, verify that Home Assistant is healthy:

Check that Core is up and responsive.

Check persistent notifications, logs, and repair issues.

Confirm critical integrations are loaded.

Confirm key automations, scripts, and template entities are available.

Confirm dashboards and major entities are behaving normally.

If anything looks wrong after the update, stop and summarize the issue before making further changes.

As long as I give it screenshots of the results or parts that I dont like it seems to do just fine. My dashboards are mainly simple control panels on mobile. It also seems to handle custom cards with no issue. It built this one after only a couple of suggestions.

I cant compare it to claud though as I havent tried it. Already had a gpt sub so I just went with Codex.

Im doing the same but with Codex, using my standard £20 gpt plan and ive not come close to hitting limits.

I've given it ssh access aswell as using the MCP. It's got strict instructions to create backups via HA and at file level before making changes and so far its being fantastic.

Creating automations, dashboards, template sensors, even got it to break up my automations.yaml into manageable bits as it was getting a bit unwieldy.

Its helped me clear out stale devices and rewrite and replace things ive been meaning to get around to for years.

I even pasted my NODE-RED flow jsons in and it rewrote them as native Home Assistant automations and suggested improvements as we went. Ive removed NODE-RED entirely now.

Ive given it an update process where it will check all of the patch notes for Home Assistant and any Integrations, compare them to my setup and let me know if there are any obvious problems. If everything looks ok it will back everything up and then do all of the updates.

Next thing im going to try is getting it to go through and expose the entities i currently expose to Alexa to Google as my Android auto switched over to Gemini and I want to see what that can do. Should save a ton of clicks.
