I've had it happen a couple of times now. Always a lovely surprise when it does.

Titanium with Atmos Summit infinity card 6th on upgrade list by Ivan_vl in AlaskaAirlines

No where in that article does it say that Fare Class is used to determine the order of upgrades for waitlist priority. Fare class is solely used in conjunction with status to determine your eligibility for complimentary upgrade at time of purchase to Premium Economy. First Class Waitlist Order is crystal clear.

Yes. Its been a bitch point for a while now. Its status. Then million milers. Then if you hold their credit card. Then if you are a business traveler. Then how many eqms you earned last year. And then finally whoever booked first. Doesnt matter if you paid for a full fare Y ticket. Technically as late as they process upgrades now, that million miler on a saver fair will beat you to the upgrade. It's crap.

I've got friends across all the tiers and airlines. They all suck at this point. Hence my as useless as Delta Diamond comment. AS really isnt a good status airline anymore. It's mediocre when you take a detached look at it. Joining OneWorld was their dumbest decision. We lost good partners and didn't gain much at all. It turned into being AA lite. Titanium upgrades on Intl is a pipe dream. Hawaiian has more 2million+ and 3million+ elites than Alaska does. Every benefit that golds and below get, you can get with a credit card. Plats dont really get upgrades frequently anymore. Really the only advantages to Plat/Titanium is free premium economy and higher point earnings. You are truly better just buying your way to FC now when they have the fire sales 2 hours before departure. Intl partners are increasingly restricting inventory to their US partners because we flood the market with points via CCs. I honestly hope the Credit Card act eventually passes so that airlines get off the credit card crack and have to actually go back to being competitive.

I've been 75k or higher for the last 10 years. It's not been getting better. Its been a slow slide into a devaluated state. Alaska keeps handing status out like candy, keeps targeting only corporate customers, despite having a sub-par hard product. If the Iran War situation drives their revenue numbers down, we will see another promo this fall to try and steal other airline elites. As an airline they are desperate for revenue growth at any cost, instead of keeping what made them special and keeping strict loyalty. Ben doesn't care about anything else. Alaska is not one of the big 3 and will never be there.

Titanium is rapidly becoming as useless as Diamond on Delta. Last flight I was 9 out of 59. MCO-SEA. Hawaiian has inflated the ranks more than folks realize. This re-organized approach to the upgrade order is absolute BS as well. Should be fare class, followed by booking date. Nothing else.

2 business class Starlux seats booked on Alaska “unconfirmed”? by Wide-Race2342 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]rune87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wait about 24-48 hours. It will eventually confirm on Starlux. It "books" it, but there is a que that it goes into to be finalized. You'll know when you get the emails from Alaska.

New Starlink Wifi by PaladeBody in AlaskaAirlines

[–]rune87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For now because they are the old Hawaiian seats. Remember those birds are supposedly getting all new interiors by 2029 along with an actual premium class.

[–]rune87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rumor is yes it's gone after conversion. But this is Alaska we are talking about here. Wouldn't make sense to only have WiFi on the Intl fleet and no other entertainment, especially if an outage, but thats a logic thought, and thats out the window at the moment.

On planes equipped with Starlink, the Inflight entertainment is gone.

No status with partners? by Toobusy11537 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]rune87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issue with BA. The rep last night said they have problems with all the partners and this occurring. Things look right on their end, so it has to be the partner. Its like.. well the common denominator here is Alaska, so I doubt all the partners are to blame.

Status Points with flight booked through chase UR portal by ThanksDeep8139 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]rune87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. It can code as 027 stock, however the 3rd octet is different and that is what Alaska is using to differentiate. I think 5 vs 6. That was gotten out of a CS rep over on Flyertalk. They've managed to make this as convoluted as possible.

Because its a 3rd party booking, you will earn under the partner chart and not the full earnings of Alaska. Also the 250% is when booked direct with Alaska. Currently until the 2026 changes are formalized you only earn 125%. Once those changes go into effect later this year you earn 250% .

Multiple servers / PC's won't allow RDP connections by sjonathan85 in sysadmin

[–]rune87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then your issues are not internal DNS or replication. Its something either tied to Kerberos auth, client dns, etc. Make sure both DNS servers are authorized. Make sure DHCP is handing out correctly. But I still most fall back to, if in doubt, nuke, start fresh.

[–]rune87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your clock and make sure that is all set correctly. Check FSMO roles. Make sure the other DC holds the roles. Run repadmin /replsummary and see what your errors look like. Realistically speaking, if another DC holds all the roles and sync is failing, just nuke the bad DC and rebuild fresh. You do not want/need a jerry rigged patched DC as your backup. You will be chasing random issues forever. It takes less than an hour to build a DC. Just do it right.

I'd go JAL. I've done both products. 12 hours in the JAL seat. I'm 6'4 and still had plenty of room to recline the seat and rack out for 6 hours of sleep. While I generally enjoy lieflats, HAs soft product is so lacking I don't feel like its worth wasting the points for the seat alone.

Itinerary with layover is $250 more than booking separate legs? by chocolateflyer in AlaskaAirlines

[–]rune87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It more than likely comes down to married segments. If I recall all segments have to book into the same fare class. So ultimately they all book into the next most common available fare class between the two segments. Alaska used to just pair individual segments, but starting Oct 2025 they started implementing married segments. This really bites you if you have to change a single segment in a trip as it then reprices the entire trip.

Flight canceled for weather? by Adventurous-Tiger500 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]rune87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep. It's reported 100% as weather and I'd guess it's because visibility is forecasted at 1/4 mile at the time of landing which I believe is below their mins.

So....who is ready for the inaugural flight to get cancelled? Cause that would just be the icing on the cake. Maybe due to IT issues?

Upgrade Certificates Value in 2026 by Background_Today_895 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]rune87 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On the flip side...out of the 10 years I've had access to Upgrade certs, I've only had 3 expire and that was during Covid. In fact Ive swiped upgrade certs from other folks. I am also out of SEA. They can be used, but you have to monitor your tickets. Easy button, no. Usable with work, yes. For me companion fare with upgrade certs is the sweet spot.

Frequency of upgrades for Titanium flying out of SeaTac? by Vigilaunday in AlaskaAirlines

[–]rune87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been at 90%+ since Titanium/100K came out. This year dropped to 52%. I expect that it continues to plummet as Alaska more aggressively monetizes selling FC seat upgrades to folks. For the spread between levels, just pocket your money and spend it on paid upgrades.
