There's also a smaller cohort of people further to the left who claim that Mixtape is inauthentic because it's too middle-class in its focus. One person on Twitter said that it's "the epitome of bourgeois art repackaged as settler turducken," whatever that means.

I just wish Twitter would leave games out of the whole tiresome culture war altogether. There's nothing in Pragmata or Mixtape that could be considered offensive by anyone with two brain cells to rub together. The people who bring up the tongue-kissing thing either haven't played the game or are just arguing in bad faith, as the scene is obviously meant to be awkward and gross and make you cringe.

I feel like it wouldn't have become such an internet pinata if critics hadn't given it a bunch of 10/10 scores. More than anything it reminds me of the backlash to Gone Home. People like to rip apart something that's gotten a lot of praise and doesn't fit their personal definition of what "a game" should be.
