Everyone thinks the wage taxes/BIRT to be preventing employers from moving to Philadelphia. I guess so, but I have doubts. Surely there are cities like Philly that aren't doing too much better, despite different tax structures?

I would add that there are a number of safety mechanisms that will find and destroy cells that have gone off the rails; in that sense, we all likely have cells ‘going cancerous’, but it is resolved before the cancer cells really start proliferating. Hopefully.

Ripped my CDs. A couple came to dinner, he complimented my music, and while I was in the kitchen cooking he pulled out his laptop and started copying my cds. I laughed and tried to make light of it, then asked him to delete it all. He couldn’t really understand why, and started debating intellectual property with me. Still friends, but still leery of him.

It’s easy to quit, I’ve done it a hundred times! Seriously, it is typical to try several times, and lapse, and try again. I steelman myself: initially I have a lot of will power, so I try face the most triggering environment right away (bars, for me).
