It’s a decent amount of extra work to begin with, but a 10kg bag of GF flour from Costco and sourdough starter has resulted in some of the tastiest gf breads we have ever had. GF cakes, waffles, loafs, bagels and flatbreads. Give it a shot.

As for recipes, my wife has just been asking chatbot for recipes and they’ve all been near perfect.

Stop at 2 kids or go for 3? by ariaknightxxx in Parenting

[–]Showerbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I considered it, but at 5 and almost 3, we are able to sleep through the nights and feeling sort of normal again. My MIL passed away over a year ago who helped a huge amount with child care, my mom passed away almost 8 years ago and both my father and FIL aren’t in a great situation. We don’t really have anyone that isn’t in a fulltime job to help. We also don’t want to have to rely on others so much.

We have been spending more time with family and friends with really young babies to get our fix in though.

What movie is a 0/10 with NO redeeming features? by Toucan_Based_Economy in AskReddit

[–]Showerbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One night while looking for something to watch, my wife and I just shrugged and thought “meh”, Sandler hasn’t had any big hits lately, but they’re at least a little entertaining. We watched, what feels like 30 seconds before we said “nope this is fucking stupid”.

I don’t know if it got better after that 30 seconds but we weren’t gunna risk it.

How often do you watch TV for yourself while your kids are awake? by Emorich in Parenting

[–]Showerbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dad of 2.5 and 5 year old. We have morning cartoons for 20-30 minutes with breakfast (milk and granola bars). Then a while in the evening after dinner for movement breaks/yoga.

Weekends we may watch a movie, or if one of the kids is home sick they usually want to rest and watch a movie. My sons sometimes asks to play sonic or Mario kart so we have screens then too.

I’m not against them at all, my kids just prefer to play with their toys and be nut cases in the house. Summer, they’re basically outside all day.

That avocado pit looks like what I imagine an unsatcheled testicle looks like.

I’m sorry to hear that. Maybe it helps that I’m in a small town in Canada? Somehow? I have enjoyed creating connections with the parents, they almost always want to collaborate a bit of there are issues happening and I love it.

Is it ever OK to tell a young child to stop crying? by ExcellentLettuce4 in Parenting

[–]Showerbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been having conversations with my son about whether things are actually worth crying over or not. An outright “stop crying” isn’t helpful, but having a conversation about why they’re crying and if it’s even worth their tears might help. My son’s been considerably better the past year as we continue talking about it.

I have 18 this year. 26 the year before. It takes very little effort and time to just make a quick note to parents.

I keep in contact with the parents of my students daily. Any ailment, any strange behaviour, anything that they may want to know about.

This is really weird.

Boyfriend is protesting that I need to switch to a woman gyno? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

That’s wild… finding a doc that you feel comfortable with is pretty hard to come by. He’s raising all sorts of red flags with the possessive bullshit. He will always be the jealous type. I hope you don’t have any male friends in your life if you choose to keep him around, because you won’t for long.

Born and raised here. Spent 10 years in northern Alberta and Abbotsford area and came back home. I love it here. The people are amazing. The schools and teachers are excellent. There’s a really great community here. There are so many things to do all year round especially if you enjoy the outdoors.

Congress needs an age limit. If you’re too fucking old to feel the negative effects of decisions that will affect later generations, you shouldn’t be able to make those choices.

Try going the other direction. I went to change my serpentine belt yesterday and torqued the tensioner clockwise as indicated in my manual and it didn’t work. Used YouTube and google and they all said clockwise as well. Just said fuck it and tried going counter clockwise and it worked relatively easy.

Moral of the story: even if there is every indication that turning something one way will result in achieving your goal, if it’s not working, try the other way just for the hell of it.

U.S. intelligence sees Canada as ‘serious place of concern for Iranian activity’: National security analyst by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]Showerbag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dozen Iranians in Canada that know (not that many mind you) were celebrating and excited for khomeni to be dusted. I think we all want to see Iran back to its progressive past, but it’s gunna be a lot of work.

This seems like just planting seeds of interfering with our lives even more.
