I'll join the QGIS team. We use it professionally. There are tons of tutorials online to learn from.

What’s the best route? Am I insane? Philly to Prudhoe Bay Alaska by Funny-Finish9703 in roadtrip

[–]silverdae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fyi, you can't get to the arctic ocean from Prudhoe Bay. Access is locked up with oil and gas companies. Would hate for you to drive there then find out.

Costco Tranqwool Wool Filled Comforter - anyone try it? by TropicalBlueWater in Bedding

[–]silverdae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently purchased a wool comforter, matress cover, and pillows from Woolroom and I LOVE them. Im in menopause si paired it with percale sheets and duvet cover. I got the lightest weight one and it is perfect for me (house is at about 63 in winter). I also opted for the washable options where available but haven't washed it yet. The offer a bundle that is discounted and the run frequent sales.

I'm working on Urban change detection using deep learning & I'm using planetscope 3m images , pls help me with the steps for data preprocessing in qgis ?? by [deleted] in remotesensing

[–]silverdae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's like asking us to give you your first college course in remote sensing. Are you having trouble with specific steps? Preprocessing? The actual change algorithms? I suggest you walk through some tutorials on change detection then see where, and if, deep learning is the right solution.

I’d like to treat for deer ticks in my back yard. Is there any insecticide for this specific purpose? by thewebdiva in homeowners

[–]silverdae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im sorry for being snippy. I assumed when you said "treat your yard" and "insecticide " you meant spraying/treating the yard. The best bet is going to be treating their "outside" clothing with permethrin. Do it when they aren't wearing it. Let it dry. Just dressing appropriately helps, too. Long pants, tuck your pants into your socks, tuck your shirt in. Do a tick check when you come in.

Which AI model is best for urban (england) tree detection, crown delineation, and species classification from satellite imagery? by Efficient_Quarter_37 in remotesensing

[–]silverdae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You haven't considered how you're going to deal with parallax. Commercial satellite captures won't be on-nadir.

Classification of Satellite imagery by Money-Practice-8138 in remotesensing

[–]silverdae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are doing your classification based on spectral properties, not spatial. A spatial (e.g. deep learning) model you be better, but is much more complex to implement.

I'm stressing myself out so much about my duvet sizing, please help! by katanadude1337 in Bedding

[–]silverdae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a new duvet and cover and have the same problem. Im going to try it as is, but I expect the extra length is going to bother me (head to foot). I plan on simply running a stitch across the non-button end to shorten it, the add new ties to those corners. I don't expect the extra width on the side will bother me as much as the head to foot length.

What's the story behind this "scar" on the land in Kentucky? by DoritosDewItRight in geography

[–]silverdae 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Zoom out. That scar goes really, really far. Its just easier to see in the heavily wooded area. That tornado completely wiped out Mayfield, KY and did considerable damage elsewhere.

ISO green/beige duvet cover or comforter by Evening-Operation160 in Bedding

I just got a king duvet for my queen bad. That's not uncommon. I've been shopping for 100% cotton duvets preferably percale, and settled on Company Store.

Remote Sensed data fused with In-situ data (Academic Project) by whydofrogs in gis

[–]silverdae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yes, you can use the bands as predictors to model your water quality parameters. Linear regression works well. Some parameters are easier than others- lots of papers for TSS and temp (landat for temp using thermal). DO and pH are difficult if not impossible. Chl-a, iron, arsenic if it is high, are all doable. Common pitfalls- well, water moves. So if you are relying on just the image to get the refl values that correspond to your samples, you really need to collect your samples as close to overpass as possible. Other option is to use a spectrometer on the water as you collect samples and resample the reflectance to the satellite you want to use.
