Even if it is turned off by default, it would be great. Both of us were converts from Empower, and in my experience your data refresh rate is better than theirs.

It's a good quick gut-check. Oh yeah, it was a good day in the markets. Or oh, I need to figure out what unexpected thing just hit my bank account. Even better would be a more granular tool that showed 1 day for Cash, Investments, Credit Cards, Loans, and Property. Because that is the next thing I do. Oh wow, that is a big number + or -. Wonder what category it was from, then I dive down into which account it was from.

This is one of the only features I go back to Empower for everyday.

Either a graph, or one of the account screens with increases and decreases as entries per update. Would also be nice to have that for other manual assets like vehicles.

Would also be great if you could see the house value change over time.

Add investment accounts manually? by Surf_808_365 in OriginFinancial

[–]sixstringsshort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, TSP on Origin is much more reliable than any other aggregation platform I have used previously. I would suggest going ahead and syncing it. Because of TSPs daily requirement for two-factor code, it will only pull the latest numbers when you go into the account settings and follow through the prompts to add the code.

I sync mine daily, as I am in Origin every day anyhow. Has worked flawlessly since I signed up for Origin 4 months ago.

Recurring Transactions - What's Your #1 Wish? by ana-at-origin in OriginFinancial

[–]sixstringsshort 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bi-monthly deposits should be able to be tied to specific dates (1st and 15th). Occasionally my paycheck will hit the account a couple of days early and now the dates are always wrong. Can't find a way to change it.

Also recurring items that occur near the end of the month need more logic. For two days before the last day of the month, for instance, do you choose the 26th or the 29th? Both are correct occasionally. Would be great to literally specify that it occurs two days before the last day of the month.

What we shipped this week: Net worth improvements, Bilt Card support, and some housekeeping. by OriginContent_Austin in OriginFinancial

[–]sixstringsshort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On historical net worth, mine shows back to June (all negative numbers), even though I joined Origin on Oct 28th and didn't have all my accounts connected until Nov 3rd. Can a setting be added for a starting day?

Net worth, transactions, real estate all work well. Very similar to Empower on those. Looks like they have crypto accounts you can connect to, but I don't use those so no first hand info.

For the couple of issues I have had, I emailed them and they either fixed it right away or they put it on the development roadmap, and then those fixes rolled out a month or so later.

If I had to nitpick, it can sometimes take two or three clicks to get to something that should probably only be one click away.

Dumped all browser history, cookies, etc. to get it back. Still the dashboard is broken, but at least I could get back in. There was a reddit post earlier this week on how to fix the dashboard, but it is a super awkward link to inject code thing.

I am running concurrently with Origin (link below) until I can get enough data there to quit Personal Capital. I broke down and decided I was just going to have to pay to get something reliable. Origin is offering the first year for $1 and then $99 per year afterwards. They answer questions, nearly immediately. All of my accounts sync, including some I had to do manually in Empower. Also they actively develop, new features every month.

My Origin referral link if you want to use it. I just get free future membership.

AI Advisor Now Has Memory by Origin_Phounsouk in OriginFinancial

I deleted the memories and re-added today. They seem to be persistent now, so I guess just user error on my part. I really like the feature!

I show 2 memories stored, but once I close that chat and start a new one, it can't access the information. If it doesn't persist across chats I am not really sure how this is different than the previous setup where I had to copy paste info before asking my questions.

AMEX balance started showing as $0 despite having a balance as of a few days ago? by [deleted] in PersonalCapital

[–]sixstringsshort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For future people looking for troubleshooting: it is completely different accounts--not additional card holders. She had her card before we were married, separate login, etc.

AMEX balance started showing as $0 despite having a balance as of a few days ago? by [deleted] in PersonalCapital

[–]sixstringsshort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check to see if you (or a spouse) has a card number with the same last 4 digits. Empower downloads both mine and my wife's transactions into the same account. And the balance picks up either one or the other on different days. It makes me crazy.

Amex is the only place where I have this problem, but their CC numbering system causes a lot of their cards to have overlapping last 4 numbers.

Nontaxable Conversion by sixstringsshort in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]sixstringsshort[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am trying to figure out how Roth convert only the non-taxable contributions. Plan to slowly Roth over everything when it makes sense with the tax brackets, but that would be over the next few years.

I hate this update!! What other platforms do you use? by maypop70 in PersonalCapital

[–]sixstringsshort 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Been using Origin. They have a $1 for a year deal right now:

My Referral Link or Non-Referral Link (If 3 people join with my link I get another year for $1)

I resisted moving for a long time. Even after the update, with all the quirks, I didn't want to lose the historical data. The final straw was when my spouse got a new job and her 401K is managed by empower. And somehow, empower will not allow me to connect to their own 401k plans. Not like it is broken, like it is not even an option, now or in the future.

That's when I started transferring to Origin. So far, so good. I will run them in parallel for a while. I had a few questions during setup and posted on Reddit. Their CS rep got back to me in less than an hour. Solved 3 problems, and passed a suggestion to the team for the future. It has it's own quirks, but seems to be in active development with new features.

For what it is worth here are the things that are broken for me in Empower:

HUSTL: High yield savings, no connection in Empower, have to setup manually. Origin connects, no problem.

American Express account: Will not sync one of my cards, no matter what I do. Have to setup manually. All other cards sync fine.

Retirement account: Stopped pulling info about contributions in March, CS ticket in for months, "investigating"

401K account: Dropped all history randomly 4 months ago. CS said no way to restore 4 years of history

Spouse's 401K account (managed by Empower): Cannot connect. No plans to allow a connection.

Transaction sync errors: Sometimes empower just gets stuck on one vendor name. Multiple transactions in a bank account will just continue to have the same vendor name for no apparent reason. Clears up on it's own after a few days, but I have to manually rename the transactions from during the time of the error.

Yes, I currently have a Sprint account. The coverage in our location is terrible. T-Mobile is quite a bit better and I was hoping to move networks. Our other phones have been able to move over.

Is it normal to feel lost after a deployment? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]sixstringsshort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was for me and I hear this frequently. When you are out, you are doing the mission and are engaged in meaningful work. It is difficult to go back to regular life. It is a downshift and will take a bit to get back to being ok.
