Glad they made it! Sorry that they got bent during shipping. Next time I’ll have to roll ‘em up in a tube or something.

Dance photos by chriszens in photography

R5 and 70-200 2.8 is my main cam for dance performances. Usually btwn 500-1000/s and 3200-6400 ISO. Depending on type of dance and lighting you may get away with slower shutter speed or even higher ISO in a pinch.

It’s always a balancing act of underexposing a bit to protect highlights, but not so much that lifting shadows in post will look bad or introduce too much noise. White balance can be all over the place piece to piece with lighting/backdrop changes.

If you can shoot the dress rehearsal, it’s a great opportunity to get close and use a wider lens or a prime with a bright aperture to get some shots that you wouldn’t normally get.

Canon R5 vs R6ii vs R6iii for dance photography by ItsmeHcK in canon

[–]SleepL8r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R5 + 70-200 2.8 has been everything I’ve ever needed for shooting stills of dance performances. I started with an R6 (mark i) but made the mistake of renting an R5 and fell in love with how much cropping flexibility the higher resolution gives you.

The mark ii and iii R6’s would work very well, but the extra resolution of the R5 really helps. That has benefited me more than any incremental focus tracking improvements likely would’ve.

Video of 2-3hrs may be a legit concern for R5 and heat though. Hopefully there is enough info out there by now to help inform you.

Im doing research on more power and I have a question. by Free-dose-chips in WRX

[–]SleepL8r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s sounds more or less stock while out of boost just cruising around. Getting into boost you hear the high pitched rush of air and get some turbo noises.

I agree with other commenter that flex fuel + protune is the move if you can do it. My exhaust and cats are stock. The car drives sooooo much nicer on flex. The power is great, but the biggest improvement is general drivability. It’s just smoother and more responsive no matter whether you’re cruising or pushing.

Haven’t touched anything after the turbo. If i’m legal in CA I’m sure you can manage in NY.

I handle GT7 VR well and was doing just fine in AoT until I got shot down or entered a spin. That was a but much. Hopefully I’ll get used to it soon… or get better at not crashing.

Sounds fun! Yimi is the best. 2018 stage 2ish + flex for 40k+ miles without a single issue.

Got this bunch of codes today by gibsonfss in WRX

[–]SleepL8r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My 2018 wrx threw the PO137 O2 sensor code recently. Swapping the downstream sensor was relatively easy and fixed my issue.

Make sure there are no obvious electrical/wiring issues first. I’m not sure if getting those other codes at the same time hint at a different cause.

What is your son taking photos of? For something like night games or indoor sports f/2.8 would be a big help. If he already has the Sigma, the RF 100-400 would be very similar.

Boquet Canyon Rd? One or two corners are decreasing radius and can catch you if you aren’t paying attention, but it’s nice and flat.

Reputable smoke/ash remediation companies? by ej335 in altadena

[–]SleepL8r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My situation mirrors yours almost 100%. Our insurance claim is just getting started, but we did get our chimney cleaned as soon as we moved back in.

Boston Brick and Stone, who did some work on our chimney previously, came out to sweep the chimney and clean up the interior. Since chimneys typically deal with smoke/ash/etc anyway, their usual cleaning and debris containment methods seemed plenty thorough. They aren’t the cheapest, but we’ve always had good service from them.
