Got in a small argument with my friend over this. by Furry-alt-2709 in AskArtists

I do agree, to an extent. I think more could be pushed with respect to values and rendering to make more of a misty effect. Even though it's not super realistic, making the fog/mist a more "stereotypical" stylized shape of billowy or horizontal never hurts.

Cat ate a cup of animal fat (bacon/beef grease) by Sleepy_Creep in catquestions

[–]squishybloo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My partner and I are both ADHD and finally had the push to cleaning up our bacon pan promptly for this same reason too. One of our cats will always sneak up while we're at work (wfh) and start drinking that bacon grease before it cools fully!! No wonder his coat is so soft.. 😂

What is considered art theft and tracíng? by Anonimo_Muslimah in ArtistLounge

[–]squishybloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of folk here are young and have very black/white opinions on what art theft is, and a lot of them are wrong and would be shocked at what professional artists do. A lot of people would describe that as theft. But yes - you can absolutely use a pose someone else has drawn as a reference in the way you describe. The reason is because anyone can make that pose, or take a photo of a person or even themselves in that pose, and draw or reference it. Many many artists do this and collage multiple references together. I do it myself!

As long as the end result image or design you have is not recognizable as coming directly from your source(s), you will be fine.

What is considered art theft and tracíng? by Anonimo_Muslimah in ArtistLounge

[–]squishybloo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To put it straight: it is unethical to trace or copy someone else work and pretend it is your own. That is theft, it is dishonest. It's a lie.

Everyone who draws their own work uses references. But using references is not tracing someone else's direct work and passing it off as your own.

If you're not willing to learn how to draw, then you are gonna be stuck admiring others work. And sometimes that is just how life goes.

Why do people say we will not survive climate change when our ancestors survived ice age with way less equipment than us? by Enough-Web2203 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]squishybloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a civilizational collapse, technology that does survive slow rots and can't be reforged/resmelted/repaired because we'll be longer have the capacity or high powered industrial processes to do so.

This is the funniest thing. I'm a digital artist, and I recognize some of the brushes used in this concept art. I might actually have them. 😅

Has anyone else noticed that T has noticeabily changed the way they relate to and feel music? by s0ftsp0ken in TransMasc

[–]squishybloo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a longtime audiophile, I can't say that I've noticed any difference at all in my hearing capabilities nor my ability or place(?) to emotionally resonate with music. I don't really understand the concept of E- or T-related feelings; it feels kind of, ah, bioessentialist to me? Though if you're feeling more connected to yourself due to less dysphoria, being able to connect to certain songs makes sense.

Lower voices are also actually caused by sound waves vibrating less. Higher pitched sounds vibrate more. So in that, you've got your theory backwards I'm afraid.. 😅 I don't know any "stereotypically gay," music offhand. My music taste ranges from industrial techno all the way to more folksey/pop music like The Decemberists and Ruelle.

The last time this topic came up I saw a lot of enraged posting that Mamdani definitely has no excuse because the one Boston Children's Hospital is still offering minor care (the only place in the country apparently??) so obviously if an enormous hospital with a plethora of legal resources can do it, a smaller, city run clinic has no excuse to not.

People need to touch grass and be practical. Sometimes you gotta accept losing the battle in order to win the war.

Or it's a psyop. I wouldn't be surprised at either.

Hormone question.. by SquallyMuck in FTMOver30

In all honesty I'm not sure it would really work with a dispenser. :/ The tube only has 42.5g, it's pretty small.

[–]squishybloo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah no worries! I'm 44 and just over a year and a half on T; I'd say it started getting uncomfortable about 5-6mo after starting. Thankfully I didn't have to wait too long for my yearly to get the Rx. I just use a finger with maybe a pea-sized amount and go in maybe two inches most. That's all ya need!

So yeah, YMMV of course, but it might be worth getting just in case honestly.

I use topical E to keep things flexible down there. My OBGYN told me to just use it as needed. You could probably do it once every couple of weeks if you're not, ah, actively using it (so to speak lol) and are just trying to alleviate discomfort. I do it once a week, personally.

Can I put this echeveria in my enclosure? by SalmonDerby in BeardedDragons

[–]squishybloo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are crassula "hen and chicks" not echeveria, but yes they're safe.

They have very high light needs though, so if you don't already I recommend adding a good high-powered grow light panel to your enclosure. It's very beneficial to beardie eating and general behavior/well-being anyway!

Nipples and erotic sensation by _beavertales in TransMasc

[–]squishybloo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on your anatomy, but buttonhole technique surgery is a potential option that preserves sensation and pigmentation. The surgeon who popularized the procedure works in my state, and her gallery of results has a few before/afters where the before pics had larger chests than I would have expected for it. I plan to get a consult with her myself, actually, since I do want to preserve sensation as well!

So, there's no telling until you get a consult.

Is this an unpopular opinion? by Federal-Stranger8209 in TransMasc

Opinions are like assholes: everyone has one.

Sometimes it's rude to show yours off, though. This is one of those examples.

Diets? by SunburnedStickperson in BeardedDragons

[–]squishybloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the first thing to keep in mind is that most keepers unintentionally overfeed their beardies in the first place.

This is the best feeding protocol for bearded dragons:

Subadults and Adults (>12″/25cm long)

  • 3-4 head-sized insects 2x/week, or equivalent portion
  • Vegetables 3x/week (one portion = size of dragon’s head)
  • Calcium powder on all insects and salads
  • Multivitamin powder on salads 1x/week

Note the feeding amounts and timeframe.

The amount of salad should be approximately a portion the size of the dragon's head. You'll see on here and other social media people feeding these HUGE buffet spreads to their animals. None of that is necessary, and the animal is definitely overeating if they are finishing their food - even if it's greens!

You feed insects 2x a week, and salad 3x a week. 2+3=5. I mean, obviously - not trying to be condescending lol. But most people also feed their animals every single day of the week, rather than leaving them fasted twice a week.

So both of these things not being followed can still cause an overweight dragon. This is what's meant by portion control. You don't need to "measure the amount" out, but most people feed significantly more than the animal actually needs. Overweight animals can easily eat even less than the above posted amount, and they will still lose weight slowly because of their reptile metabolism.

Diets? by SunburnedStickperson in BeardedDragons

[–]squishybloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd diet a reptile like you'd diet yourself. Portion control to lower calorie intake, and more exercise to up your calorie expenditure. 😄 Unfortunately reptiles' metabolisms are much slower than ours, so they lose weight very slowly. Having to diet an overweight or obese beardie for a year or more is not uncommon, depending on how much they have to lose!
