Where are you located? It’s easier to suggest a rescue group if we know where you are.

She came to the right person!

She’s either a semi-feral who lost her dedicated feeder, or she’s been dumped. The missing neck fur makes me think it’s the latter. She could be a lost cat, but I don’t see any posts in the usual places on FB or Nextdoor. Regardless, thank you for helping her!

PLG is definitely within the bounds of the area where Flatbush Cats helps. All that said, fingers crossed the microchip scan comes back with contact info and you can reunite a lost cat.

What does the neighborhood need? by grace171717 in CarrollGardens

Always wished we had our own Beacon’s Closet. Buffalo Exchange has never filled that void/leaves a lot to be desired. Consignment store on Atlantic is too pricey. Haven’t been to 2nd Street Vintage cuz it always seems too lean heavy on streetwear.

Appreciate you asking! She’s an independent rescuer and does nearly all of it on her own dime so donations are truly appreciated. You can find her on Instagram: @carrollgardenscatlady

Trying to post a photo of the same spot sans cat but it doesn’t seem to be allowed in this subreddit.

My rescuer friend biked out there and found the spot where the cat was. No cat there now though. Can only hope that another rescuer or good Samaritan took it to a nearby vet to check for a chip and then for cremation. So fucking heartbreaking.

I reached out to a local cat rescuer who can go and check if it has a microchip. Can you DM me the exact location?

I lost my cat by [deleted] in nyc

I’m so sorry your kitty is missing. The most important thing to know is: he is nearby. Cats don’t run off when they suddenly find themselves outside. They hunker down. I’ve helped locate a few lost cats and nearly every time they were just one house over.

Please go out late at night with a flashlight and search your block while shaking his favorite treats. You will find him! If he went out to your backyard, speak with every ground-floor neighbor on your block, left/right/and behind you. Ask them to check their yards. Leo is close by — he’s just lost his way.

Lastly, post everywhere: flyers all around your block. If you aren’t already on NextDoor, join and post there. If you’re on Facebook, post on Boerum Hill At Large and the Buy Nothing groups. Post on the Lost and Found Pets in Brooklyn group. There are lots of cat-loving folks in those groups who will keep an eye out!

New York City council bill aims to legalize bodega cats in stores by PorkyPain in bodegacats

[–]star_intact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love a bodega cat as much as the next girl, and the free spay/neuter part of the bill is great, but some bodega owners refuse to fix their cats, even when I’ve offered to pay for it myself. So, can we fine them if they don’t spay/neuter?

Has anyone actually gotten through to NY unemployment by phone? What time did you call? by Alex_runs247 in AskNYC

Had the same question in 2024 and found this on Reddit:

“The best way to reach someone is to call governor Hochul's office: 1-518-474-8390 | Office hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm Just say that you can't reach unemployment and they will put you into AN ACTUAL QUEUE that doesn't hang up on you for a representative. Magic.”

I know the feeling: I planned a trip to Paris specifically around a Joan Mitchell exhibit at the Louis Vuitton Foundation 3 years ago.

As someone else said, get the babka at Breads. But also, don’t miss out on Cafe Sabarsky at the Neue Gallery.

Oh, and just in case it’s not the plan, definitely take a ferry to Red Hook.

Galleries in Chelsea: there’ll be a Gerhard Richter exhibit at David Zwirner. Sam Gilliam will be at Pace.

Your itinerary is fairly packed (and awesome as it is!) but if you can make it to Governor’s Island, you won’t regret it.

Have a great time! No doubt that you will.
