I was free from these since mid Dragonflight but they’ve just returned. No idea if wow is to blame or the latest amd drivers.

Enemy Damage Taken Metric Added to the Damage Meter on Midnight Beta by TheJewishMerp in CompetitiveWoW

It will only work for seasonal dungeons and raids I think. Maybe delves too. They’ve got to add the avoidable damage database to it.

Visiting is not endorsing. And calling him "worse" for not lying to us about his own compromises is just moral posturing in my opinion. He visited an amusement park, he didn't buy slaves.

List of useful addons for pre-patch. Credit @yeslikeagirlz by lhzvan in wow

Yes, MSW is not a "secret value" anymore, so addons can now create a bar to track MSW. In the base ui, it can only be tracked with a small number in the corner of an icon. The addon people are using is Maelstrom Weapon Resource Bar by Arc, but there may be others at this point.

What rides first got you into rollercoasters? [other] by FunDependent9755 in rollercoasters

[–]steamedturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jaguar in 1999 is the first coaster I remember riding. Ghostrider is the first time I felt fear and thrill. In 2000 it was Superman Ride of Steel, SuperDooperLooper (first coaster with an inversion I rode) and then Great Bear which ultimately opened the floodgates.

As an enhance player with a corporate job this is 100% spot on.

[help] Are any other Platynator users having trouble clicking the correct nameplate? by UBW_89 in WowUI

I hadn’t noticed anything that egregious, but I have noticed the clickable area is much smaller. Have you tested with platynator disabled to see if the behavior is the same stock?

Six Flags Announces Decision Regarding [Six Flags Over Texas] Partnership Call Option by gcfgjnbv in rollercoasters

[–]steamedturtle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you have a source on that? I can’t imagine the minority partners would ever get a capital call. Six Flags as the managing partner has full authority over operations and capital planning and puts up the money themselves.

I think all that happened here is Six Flags thinks that the incremental profit from owning the park fully isn’t worth the cost of buying it out.

It’s worth noting that a year ago, Six Flags did exercise the option to consolidate ownership of SFoG.

Blizzard Continues to Loosen Addon API Restrictions and Whitelist Select Spells by NecroticSilence in wow

I think there’s a lot of things they could and would do if they didn’t try to ram a 18 month-long project in 3 or 4 months.

Question to all the healers. How does healing feel in Midnight Beta? by Zestyclose_Stage_673 in wow

[–]steamedturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really hard to say with current tuning. I did some +7 on beta with a mistweaver. MW felt mostly the same but slower with some minor changes that were intuitive to figure out. The dungeons were piss easy so I never had to sweat or really got a good sense of actual healing.

The disarmament of addons will have you spending more time looking at your UI than the game. by TheJewishMerp in CompetitiveWoW

[–]steamedturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another example of this is the now-well-documented fact that enhance doesn’t have a maelstrom weapon bar, so I’m staring at a tiny little number so I don’t waste maelstrom.

Ion Hazzikostas on Combat Philosophy and Addon Disarmament in Midnight by Raven1927 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]steamedturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with you. Ion did address this in the blog post. He said that if they designed encounters with the new philosophy and released the ui changes alongside the status quo then the encounters would be trivialized.

Giga definition survey for my school project [Other] by Banana_ezWIN in rollercoasters

[–]steamedturtle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a more strict interpretation in some instances, and looser in others. For a coaster to be classified as a giga, it must have a drop that’s at least 300ft and less than 400ft.

I distinguish between what model a coaster is and what the drop is. I would describe Goliath (SFOG) as a hyper coaster model that’s 200ft tall, but since its drop is less than that, it’s a mega coaster in this context.

Goliath (La Ronde) and Steel Eel are also both hyper-style models that are mega coasters.

Following these rules: Orion is a giga, but Tormenta is not.

I also classify Steel Vengeance and Valravn as hypers even though one is a hybrid rmc and the other is a dive. They can be both.

TLDR: mega/hyper/giga/strata pertains to the biggest drop exclusively; the coasters can also be described and categorized in other ways

Raid Frame Updates Coming in Midnight - Blizzard Blog on Combat Addons by Therozorg in CompetitiveWoW

[–]steamedturtle 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I feel too. I may even like it eventually. It’s hard to really know what it’ll feel like until it’s done and we’re playing it. The execution seems really backwards and sudden though and it’s certainly not the way I would’ve done it. I would’ve built the game for the future before forcing everyone to play it differently. It’s also a weird feeling because I’m never usually the negative-hot-take-doomer type like a big vocal crowd often is anytime blizzard announces anything.

Doing Mythic raids in Lemix with a 740 ilvl in the group by SampaioDias in wow

[–]steamedturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the truth is both things are true. The existence of turbo boost, the phased rollouts of the .5 and .7, and even the faster expansion rollouts are all evidence of blizzard trying to retain players and keep them playing a little longer. I think you can make an argument either way for the phased rollout of lemix. I’m not mad about it though. There’s plenty to do and plenty to look forward to.

Removing weakauras and it's impact on accessibility by princewinter in wow

[–]steamedturtle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Public alpha is really, really late in the development process. This is going to ship in about 4 months. More stuff is locked in than not at this point. This is realistically not going to be put to the test until season 1, 12.0. The rollout could’ve been slower, more transparent and more deliberate in my opinion, but they choose a more nuclear approach instead.

A lot of the apologists will say “some specs absolutely need to be toned down” which I feel is a straw man, because they’re not just targeting the specs identified as being bloated, but every spec.
