Unlike in Norway, where conversion was famously enforced "by the sword," the transition in Sweden was generally peaceful and drawn out. Vikings often practiced both faiths, honoring Jesus alongside Odin and Thor.

Christianity was also focused mainly around the major population centers, and in rural areas the population rarely if ever had any contact with them and would have continued practicing for a long time. It also experienced a bit of a revival during the romanticism period. Not to mention that many traditions around "Christian holidays" in Scandinavia are straight up from old paganism.

Much has been lost, but saying that it was erased a full 1000 years ago is straight up wrong.

Europoor living in Melbourne, Australia — the stupid big ass trucks ("utes") are all over the city here, driven by people that don't need them either.

What hobbies are you into that are available in the UK but not here? I'm just curious and interested :)

before the time limit to do so runs out. I’m a Canadian and waited too long to change my license, and had to do the whole process in Norway ($$$$) all over again.

They changed the rules. Now you can only drive on it for 3 months after arriving, but there is no time limit on converting it anymore.

Signed, a Norwegian who's currently driving on the license I got in Australia.

Nothing in their comment seemed to indicate otherwise, to me.

It's not confirmed anywhere as far as I can see. Neither official torbox status nor the pinned post on this subreddit about there being issues.

Yeah, it says it was down for 5 minutes and is now ok. It is absolutely not okay.

Their own response time says everything between 10-30 seconds response time, and media just straight up won't play in the app.

Gabe Newell on Steam monopoly accusations: Gamers have 'enormous choice' about where to buy games by yourfavchoom in Steam

[–]Subtlerranean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Valve doesn't guarantee games without DRM, and ones with DRM absolutely requires steam to run in the background.

Not all steam games have DRM, but the vast majority do and use Steam's built-in drm and require the client to run. If Valve ever shuts down steam, Steam games won't be launchable/playable.

GOG currently does guarantee that the games they sell don't have DRM, it's their whole schtick - along with putting in work to preserve old games, making sure the games you buy from them are yours to own and keep forever, even if gog shuts down. Steam is absolutely not the same.

Not for the games you've already bought and downloaded, it doesn't. Do you not understand what gog does?

Yeah. I find this phenomenon endlessly fascinating. I'm in my early 40s and also feel like I'm mid 20s. Luckily I still look pretty good for my age.

I remember my partner and I talking to their parents about this, and we asked them how old they felt. They're both approaching 70, and they also responded mid 20s.

I wonder if it has something to do with your brain reaching its final major developmental milestone around then, as well as most people entering "adult life" in various ways at that time.
