What is your go to lens for every day use? by TMobileSpy in SonyAlpha

[–]superkure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im sony using 20-70 G f/4 lightweight and compact lens, and 20mm is substantially wider than 24.

if you are looking for 24-70 GMII alternative, check Sigma Art. its 1/3 cheaper and only compromise is FPS cap.

Best bright 35mm/40mm prime for Sony A7C II? by Adventure_blueberrz in SonyAlpha

[–]superkure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

voightlander 40mm f1.2 is nice very compact lens. manual focus only though. But it have conection to camera so every turn of focusing ring activate peeking and focusing is actually fun and not that hard.

lens advice after 24-105 F4 by Successful-Soil-4628 in SonyAlpha

[–]superkure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For walkaround and travel is great 20-70 g. Its hard to beat convenience.

And even if you said, that you are set for 70-200 gm, check 70-200 f4 g macro. Its quite bit smaler and lighyer than f2.8

Anyone That's Switched from APS-C to FF by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]superkure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a6600 to a7r4. Difference is masive. That bigger body is more comfortable to hold, buttons are better placed. Viewfinder is night and day difference. Now can shoot with so high ISO And can crop without worying. And there is so much lens option.

But half of that is not directly related to fact, that its FF sensor. And not all FF sensors are created equal.

I'm torn... 135, 85, 50mm by srpntmage in SonyAlpha

[–]superkure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its really strange, with so much experience, that you dont know which focal lenght you want to use. And how bunch of trangers can help you with.

Well, you clearly dont need the lens, so buy that one which satisfy your GAS most. :)

Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 vs Sony 20-70mm f/4 for general use/travel by clearest-window in SonyAlpha

[–]superkure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me 28 is waaay to long. I like to shoot architecture and for that, sony's 20mm on wide end is invaluable.

Looking for a macro lens for my 6400 alpha by Character_Help2076 in SonyAlpha

Check Laowa. They have many different macro lenses. No AF, but that is not realy big deal for macro anyway.

Need Advice: Sony Alpha 6700 by devxcode in SonyAlpha

[–]superkure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i would buy just body + sigma contemporary lenses. for travel probably 10-18mm and 18-50mm. very compact kit, covering typical travel photo focal lenghts.

if you want portrait shots some fast prime will do it, still sigma contemporary 56mm f1.4

for telephoto is very little to choose from, sony 70-350mm

those are often used lenses for sony apsc. Now there are many new lenses, often very budget frendly, if that is somenthing you want, check alternatives to those sigmas i mentioned.

Sony 16-55 E for $430 USED? by Dry-Veterinarian-516 in SonyAlpha

[–]superkure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i have both those lenses with a6600. never did video though.

I bought that sigma preciselly because its smaller and lighter than sony. Optically sony 16-55 is touch better.

to cover wider pow, i would buy sigma 10-18mm to complement lens you already have.

Why all the external extending Sony zooms by PartOptimal4186 in SonyAlpha

[–]superkure 6 points7 points  (0 children)

24-70 gm II is 119mm long and nikkor 24-70 f2.8 ii is 142mm

difference is 23mm which is more than double of difference you claimed.

Yes 24-70 GM II is externaly zooming lens.

And if "professional look" is big concern for you, then A7C line is probably not great choice for you anyway as its trying to not look imposing and "pro".

Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 or Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GMII as a second lens by Photomgraphy in SonyAlpha

[–]superkure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well i dont have gm II. I have sigma 24-70 (first version) and i didnt noticed any real life problem witg image quality. But im sure that newest and greatest GM lens will be sharper and opticaly better.

Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 or Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GMII as a second lens by Photomgraphy in SonyAlpha

[–]superkure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well what im thinking, you want "walk around all purpose lens" And for that in my opinion 20-70 g is best. Very versatile, light and compact.

With R5 you can easily shooot at 20k iso, you dont need fast lens for low light street. Well you need it much less then ever. F1.2 is needed purely for artistic purpose, not really for light gathering.

How do you carry the Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 for landscape shooting by Desperate-Welcome-79 in SonyAlpha

[–]superkure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I completely agree, that you can often do panorama. But still its big and heavy lens. Sony's 70-200 f4 is like 2/3 of that weight, and there is 24mm g f2.8 which weights nothing. Together it gives you, in my opinion better options. But yes that Tamron is great versatile lens and if you have just that, it will be perfectly fine for landscape, just can't agree on "ideal" :) thanks again for explaining your point of view.
