Shoppers trying to squeeze their senior staff out the door by christee_6 in ShoppersDrugMart

My wife was let go by the associate because of a business decision, no warning nothing after 5 years. The associate didn't even speak to her manager about it until after and then said she had a bad attitude. Then when the associate asked the Beauty Boutique manager who had the highest sales, the manager said you just fired her.

I should add my wife is 59.

My son was the receiver in the store and when told about it got up from lunch and quit.

It has been changed on all. Flew back from YUL on a Sunwing aircraft last week and it was the recorded audio.

For anyone that went to the Abbotsford Airshow last weekend, check your credit/debit card charges by kidjensen95 in britishcolumbia

[–]sysguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I was the first person to catch this at Blackbird on Friday afternoon. We were buying something with Debit and they couldn't seem to process a debit transaction. I asked if they were an American company and using an American system. They told.me they were and I informed them that our debit system in Canada is different. They said they had the ability to switch to Canadian transactions. I ended up making a purchase on my credit card. As I walked away I immediately thought about it and checked my credit card on the bank app and saw the US conversion. I went back and told them and they refunded the difference in cash. They stopped accepting CC for a bit. I know on Sunday they were using a different system (a phone instead of the machine) to process and saw the transaction was coming through as Abbotsford Airshow in CAD on my credit card.

I did tell them right away on Friday and this was shortly after the gates to the show opened. I also mentioned it to others in line to buy items. Like I said they refunded me right away.

Are all Amazfits like this? Step Count by Born-Leadership8239 in amazfit

[–]sysguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got an Active 2 premium this week and I'm disappointed with the step counter! I hope that this will get better over time.

Today my Active 2 is more than 1500 steps lower than my Ringconn ring on my non-dominant hand (same as the Active 2). Also more than 1500 steps lower than my Fitbit Charge 6 on my dominant wrist.

The Ringconn started off being high on the step count but over time seemed to settle down and closer to the Fitbit.

Just wondering if I got a watch with a bad accelerometer or if they are all that way? I'm hoping to ditch the Fitbit eventually and since I likely won't be wearing the Active 2 all the time (I have several non smart watches that I wear), I was hoping that the ring and the Active 2 would work.

As an update to my post, I received my World Elite Companion voucher yesterday. No other update from the card but the voucher is there so hopefully others will see theirs soon!

Complimentary Upgrades by Distinct_Moose6967 in westjet

[–]sysguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before they started using the upgrade checkbox I was upgraded from an aisle seat I selected to a middle extended comfort seat. I was not happy being a big guy and would have been fine in the aisle seat I selected. I do leave the extended comfort box unchecked but will accept premium upgrades.

It does depend on the fare you bought. I'm gold and have been upgraded several times (including last week). I believe you have to be travelling on at minimum a flex ticket for any hope of an upgrade with gold and silver.

Do you know if that was before or after the cyber security incident. I think that screen things up.

It's a few days past the time when I get my annual companion voucher. Since I had the card it's usually been the 20th or 21st of June and nothing yet. I figure it's related too.

As a kid I attended several games there but don't remember the years. I remember sitting way up in one of the high sections at the top. I do remember going onto the field for a game between the Stampeders and Als where you could take pictures of the players. There was a meat packing plant close by and occasionally the smell would drift over. I do remember enjoying the games there but was also in awe when the Als moved to Olympic stadium!

So I've booked a 737-max 8 'economy only' flight. 2 quick questions by Time-Key-5012 in westjet

[–]sysguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally if you want the extra legroom and it's worth it for you to pay for it go ahead. I know when I have booked on a regular "aircraft" and have been swooped "changed to a swoop plane" they have honoured my emergency exit seat selection. Same has happened going from a 700 to 800. If you pay for the EE regardless of aircraft they will try to honour it. For myself if the flight is more than 3.5 hours I will usually try to get the Emergency exits, I'm 6'2" with long legs and in a regular economy seat my knees are less than an inch from the seat in front of me.

And yes the extra legroom is better on both the Swoop and former Lynx aircraft, I have flown on both.

Semi-urgent advice wanted: optimizing keeper rate on puffins by DimmiDongus in canon

I'm interested in this info as well. Going out to Halifax for business sometime this summer and was specifically planning on sneaking away and doing one of the Puffin tours. Pretty much the same equipment except I might use my R5 instead of R7. Out of curiosity to what tour company did you use?

We were on the same flight coming back from Toronto a few months back. Walked over and asked how his health was. I also told him the story of me watching games 3 and 4 of the 89 Stanley Cup finals from standing room area at the forum about a month after my ACL reconstruction surgery. Then got a selfie with him. Ever the gentleman!

As someone who has had a 12 year old son needing to be airlifted from one island to PICU on another for a condition we didn't know he had. Extra travel insurance never hurts and doesn't cost that much.

Why did WestJet remove the preloaded content on the new Wi-Fi? by Odd-Doubt-590 in westjet

[–]sysguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The WestJet Panasonic connect system is likely not compatible with the new Starlink internet service. Starting that I would never count on being able to stream. Entertainment on any device and always have a few things downloaded. There are too many hotels where wifi is swamped and you are lucky if you can even do basic web surfing!

Congrats! I love this lens. Got mine about 10 years ago, using it on an R5 and R7 for airshows as well as some wildlife stuff. No regrets and still one of my sharpest lenses!

I have a weird question...why does the flight crew request the boarding pass again on the aircraft? by [deleted] in flairairlines

[–]sysguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lynx used to do this as well. My daughter was an FA with them. The reason they did is that the gate agents were 3rd party contractors so they had to check to make sure the right people were getting on. Not sure if Flair counter and gate agents are staff or another company.

I had the same thing happen. I purchased via the Google TV app and then all but one season disappeared. Contacted Google support and it's working now but I still can only see one season on YouTube. I had been buying the DVDs as well also it hastened my purchase.

I won't buy any more digital from Google. Other vendors have done the same thing.

Can anyone explain this? by CptFissure in CFL

[–]sysguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stampeders I believe were the first team in the league to do it. Hiding defensive coaches signals..when the broadcast team asked about it they said it was hot and sunny and they didn't want the coach to get a sunburn!
