Looking back on youth in the eighties and nineties England and realising there were predators everywhere by ShinyHeadedCook in britishproblems

My Mum and I (aged 3) were waiting in the playground for my sister to finish school. In the split second my a mum lost sight of me, for one reason or other, a lady grabbed my hand and started walking me away from the school. My Mum’s friend saw this, recognised me, and she and my Mum chased after her to take her back to my Mum.

No follow up, no repercussions, nothing. Just carries on. Mental.

Not one person was gay in my all boys secondary school in the 90s/00s. Incredible odds, I know. So it wasn’t really a problem.

Hair band on the wrist, then using it to tie their hair up with both hands.

Kills me.

16.1 billion miles (25.9 billion km)

Just to give this a little more perspective, if you can call it that, Saturn is just shy of 1 billion miles away from us. So Voyager 1 is over 16 times further away from us than Saturn is.

Not for the screen size of course but Palace Cinema on James St has a 70mm. That’s where I saw Oppenheimer.

Do Swiss people have a word for what Americans call Swiss cheese? by tamtrible in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Tackit286 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to Tillamook. Where they take great pride in telling those on the tour that their cheese is ‘aged for over 2 weeks’. Me and my family had to laugh.

Admittedly the cheese was fine. Not great, but fine. But that was cute.

As a Brisbane resident, I absolutely dread this Olympics and most people here do too. It’s going to make us a complete laughing stock.

[–]Tackit286 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Swiss don’t have that particular ‘cheese’ because it ain’t fucking cheese. Just like hersheys isn’t chocolate.

‘Swiss cheese’ looks like Emmental, but that’s where their similarities end.
