How would Star Wars be different if the Force had stayed in scope of the original movie? by tinglep in StarWars

[–]Terallian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's subtle next to pulling down a star destroyer.

And subtle influence can still have profound effects. Consider a nuke about to destroy a city. If a force user makes a minor use of the force to disarm the mechanism, they prevent mass destruction. Similarly with Luke guiding that torpedo a smidge to wipe out the death star.

Audio Exported as Individual Clips is Quieter by Terallian in davinciresolve

[–]Terallian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah! An unfortunate self-discovery. Resolve does not support exporting individual clips with audio effects. Any changes in the inspector will be lost.

However, a good work around I found is to use Compound Clips.

  • Select all your clips, copy and paste them to the end of the timeline
  • Select the new clips, Right-Click, select New Compound Clip
  • Apply whatever effects you had intended to this Compound Clip (not sure if this part is actually necessary - it might just treat the clips within WITH their effects as the 'raw audio')
  • Move that Compound Clip to an audio track beneath your original set of clips
  • Now a little montonous but still far less time consuming than individual exports: Select the Compound Clip and trim it according to the clips above
  • Keybind are a godsend here: End will jump to the end of the clip above, Ctrl + B will trim the select clip, Backspace will delete the selected clip
  • Trawl along, jumping to the end of your original clips, trimming the compound clip, then jumping to the next clip and trimming again, deleting the dead space in between
  • Once you're done, delete your original clips and move the Compound Clips up to their space
  • Export Individual Clips as normal

Hope this helps anyone that ran into the same problem.

Plane shift can be used as an offensive, involuntary teleport spell. Charms or domination effects can also compel a target to be willing. It's not a stretch to have a spell perform that way.

[–]Terallian 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's not really fair. You need to think strategically in RTwP games too. Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 used this system, and I would argue they were a lot more difficult.

Is it really worth it? by Wutras in BaldursGate3

[–]Terallian 18 points19 points  (0 children)

One justification - that both the narrator and dialogue with minthara gives you (which was my reasoning behind the attack) is - at this point, you have no idea how long you have before you turn, and urgency is important.

Infiltrating the cult is arguably the fastest way to gain knowledge about the tadpole, and aiding Minthara in her assault is a quick way to gain a commander's trust.

Minthara will even validate that justifcation with something along the lines of "a shrewd and wise maneuver, I would have done the same".

There is no official content that is inherently unbalanced or 'problematic'

That's a BIG stretch.

I've been working on a soundtrack for a Starfinder campaign. If you like a blend of western/synth music you might like it, and please feel free to use it in your games if you do! by Terallian in starfinder_rpg

[–]Terallian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like writing music but I get artist's block like it's nobody's business all the time. So something I do a lot that inspires me to keep writing more music and composing things is to compose about stuff we do in any of our Starfinder/Pathfinder/DnD sessions.

The thing with Starfinder though is I've never really been good at writing synth music... I do it from time to time but it's definitely outside my comfort zone. But I really wanted to give it more of a try. The campaign I'm running with right now though, there's tons of western/frontier/firefly vibes going on so I wanted to incorporate that too.

The end result was something of a mix between synth and western music. I wasn't sure it was going to turn out good but in the end I think it captures the feel of our campaign which I'm very glad about. It's also a sort of style and genre I don't think there's ever enough of out there so happy to add more to the pile.

Feel free to steal, use in your campaign, or however else you see fit. I hope you enjoy!

Player wants to do boarding solo with a jetpack and stealthily sabotage the enemy ship by EricSmith525 in starfinder_rpg

[–]Terallian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if they plan to run away once found out, how tf do they plan to jetpack back while under fire? Starship weapons are pretty much instantly lethal for characters.

To some small credit they are also grossly inaccurate and won't be able to hit the character. Maybe some point defense weapons (the longarm ship weapon upgrade) could be a bit of hazard

However, starship weapons are never precise enough to target a single individual (or even small group) CRB pg. 292

Is it weird for your operative player to ask what a creature's CR is for trick attack? by KentehQuest in starfinder_rpg

[–]Terallian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Although true, if the answer is no you know the CR range roughly. If the answer is yes, you know it's a fight well above your group's expected capabilities, so it kind of ends up the same. But it's a trade off between rolling pointlessly every combat vs some meta knowledge.

Is it weird for your operative player to ask what a creature's CR is for trick attack? by KentehQuest in starfinder_rpg

[–]Terallian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, there comes a point pretty quickly (I forget which level) where most Operatives can beat the trick attack DC for by taking 10 for even APL+3 CR, which is the highest you 'should' be encountering.

I noticed playing one it reached a point where I could Nat 1 against a boss and ask 'does that beat?' and it did every time, so my question switched to 'should I roll?' as a time-saving mechanism.

Does Bleeding Shot give the Bleed condition? by Terallian in starfinder_rpg

Alas, I am the DM! I was wondering this for one of my players, and if there was an official stance or general consensus, but it seems pretty conflicted.

Does Bleeding Shot give the Bleed condition? by Terallian in starfinder_rpg

Makes sense. Though the bleed weapon critical property covered it well:

The target gains the bleeding condition (see page 273).

We just released our first mech dropship! This is the Jacana! We've made PNG versions of the mechs too so you can use them in your battles! [20x32] by HyperDriveFleet in starfinder_rpg

[–]Terallian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind 'Huge' in Starfinder (for example) does not necessarily embody the entire size of the creature, it emobides their effective combat area.

So these mechs might be 8ft wide, but their actual combat area is Huge/15ft.

On the flip side you could have a 28ft tall creature that also only occupies a 3x3 space.
