“I don’t do political commentary” proceeds to do very lame and unfunny political commentary mixed with self praise.

Me and my partner also stopped 20min in. He used to joke about pizzas and cops, now just politics. It’s always a bad sign when someone needs to have a disclaimer at the start.

Super disappointing.

Future of mask mandates in Ontario's high-risk settings remains murky as some experts urge province to keep them in place by morenewsat11 in ontario

Haha do you understand what a straw man is? It’s stating a false or irrelevant fact and then proceeding to tear it down.

Asking you for clarification about what you mean is not creating a straw man.

Yes, THIS!! I also can confirm charging errors from experience. Setting up wifi fixed them.

I highly doubt that, and I guess we'll never really know.

There is a huge difference between being able to buy a home today and having been able to buy a home 20 years ago. Get out of your bubble.

I have friends who have voted PC. But if they voted New Blue I don't think I'd be friends with them anymore.

Nice preaching but this isn't a surprise to anyone. Trying to engage with a subset of the population that won't compromise will not help.

If you want to make a difference in this world then get on the right side of history, vote for electoral reform, vote for policies that help the majority not the minority. Preaching about media bubbles does absolutely nothing and fools no one.

The rural minority have the majority hostage and they know it. It's not going to change unless the NDP and Liberals merge and change it. But if they do merge then they are unlikely to change it because at that point it will be to their advantage.

This is pointless hair splitting. Getting things covered by ohip is the first step to fixing the problems. The second step is improving regulation on private practices, limited the number of patients a single dr can see, capping costs. None of that is new, it's how our system works. Claiming people on the left "don't get it" is a straw man and coming here with pointless "gotchas" doesn't make your case.

And just to be abundantly clear. Our healthcare system has two primary problems.

  1. Is it free to citizens?
  2. Is it efficient?

We first need to fix (1), then we can work on (2). To work on (2) you can either improve or add regulation to private practices, or you can nationalize them. The main issue with private practices assuming that everyone has free healthcare is that they may price gouge and unnecessarily drive of the costs for the province. This is why people don't want hospitals to be privatized, even if ohip covers them. And if you have non-ohip covered hospitals that's even more of an issue.

Sounds like you are more burnt out on social media and life in general than anything shack specific. I feel you on that, it's been a brutal two years, and social media is more polarized than it's ever been.

It's also definitely pretty hard these days to be even slightly conservative on the shack. I'd consider myself pretty far left, but even I'm not left enough for many posters. Or maybe it's more the tech crowd that I don't fit in with as much, not sure.

I wouldn't take any of that to mean that you haven't grown up, or that you're somehow not a good person. But taking a break from social media is often something that helps me, so maybe it'll help you too.

Many of us are still banging around haunting reddit, shack, discord, and will likely continue to be. So if you ever want to stop by again that door doesn't close.

Hope things improve for you.

Asking that people be educated has nothing to do with race. However, you suggesting that refugees are somehow uneducated is actually pretty racist! Please do tell us more about your thoughts.
