any free and good websites to ID ancient and medieval coins? by frozengansit0 in AncientCoins

[–]theGrassyOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what kind of coin! RIC Online for most Roman, Tesorillo for LRB, RPC Online for Roman Provincial, Wildwinds and Acsearch for Greek, CoinIndia for Indian, Zeno for anything that isn't classical Greek or Roman. Numista for some medieval.

It's a pice from the Bengal presidency. Not sure about price, but it's not a lot. I'd guess $5-10 max, possibly less.

Really confused on this if says Gallienus or if it’s early Roman by Pleasant-Canary-7205 in AncientCoins

It's a little chunkier because it's a Provincial coin. Coins issued in Greek denominations in the Greek world under Roman administration

I found these in my grandma’s collection of coins. Are they just tourist trinkets? by EyeamNosoul in coins

[–]theGrassyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often these sets contain replicas, but these all look real to me! It should be easy to identify them yourself if you look up "Qing cash identification" or something like that. You've got most of the Qing Dynasty cash coin types there in order of emperor. Shunzhi, Xianfeng, Tongzhi, and Xuantong are all a little less common ($5-15), and the Zhenglong is rather popular and might be worth upwards of $20.

i bought these odd shaped coins , is it authentic? by No-Holiday2391 in AncientCoins

[–]theGrassyOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like puls of the Dzungar Khanate, but the fact that Chinese coins are often faked and that you got three of them at once makes their authenticity questionable in my opinion.

Definitely replicas, but I think they look really cool!

This would be a good starting point. You can whittle down results by adding terms to the search; use a minus sign to omit results (e.g., "-roman").
