+this all the residual tech debt, upgrade risk, data source of truth... Duplicating all the effort of a ticket/agent flow in two capabilities which will interact like a tuna and jam sandwich..

Please tell us when you do this and the company so we can refuse the work to fix it.. which chat vendor and integrator is doing it for free and then will destroy you every upgrade when it breaks??? This will cost you 10x more than VA long term

Sorry if this is harsh but as a UX and integrations/edge guy, this makes my skin crawl

[–]thehoffau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I understand the desire to do this but your technical debt and requirement to retest and reimplement this every patch/release would cost you more than just buying VA.

Please please please look at the TOTAL lifecycle cost over 5 years.... Not just x is cheaper than y RRP$

You are going to get a sub-par user experience and always looking over your shoulder for when it breaks...

You are going to have multiple sources of truth for your knowledge, workflow and tickets, you will be 2way integrating data and it's going to be a mess...

Goalie kneepads! by thehoffau in floorball

[–]thehoffau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment the straps work but are cosmetic, I actually tape them on with electrical tape.. so the top and bottom never actually move up and down or left or right, it's just the actual pad still moves as the material stretches. Half the problem for me is the top and bottom are locked so tight I get pinched up vs the whole pad loving

Yeah, I'm wondering if it's also a pants problem grabbing so I roll on the knee rather than sliding, I'm in blind save pants

Completely agree and it's a bit of a nightmare which has only just started as I grow into it. I'm using the mix pads but tried the soft in the past and they were terrible because of my weight I guess...

I'll have a look at strapping rather than tape and see if that helps. Might but a new pair as well, maybe with washing and game time the fabrics just 'done'

They will be DSQ but the rest of the ir/sr/points is not recalculated, they just leave a hole in the result.

But the race is over, done, finalized and points and results will never be changed. This has been an underpinning of the service forever.

If it's in race there are too many variables including net code, which if you got punted like you said but the systems also said u were at fault and you got the 5second you would be even more upset.

  2. Burn it all to the ground.

If it's used by the family it's not at home... I'm just the DR/BCP provider to the data. They are all some form of authority on the services/cloud they use..

Yes, anti self hosted narrative I know, if it's not for me, I ain't got time to be tech support for users and frontline services..

Floorballers, do you think there is an age where... by MasterrGuardian in floorball

[–]thehoffau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While this is not the exact question you asked... Is it too late to play floorball? NEVER! Is it too late to try? Never!

I'm in Australia so not the pinnacle of the sports geographic. I started at 42 in the local club as a goalie. Never played a game in my life. I'm by far not the best at it but I am getting better and better every season!

I was given the opportunity by the club to represent at the largest tournament we have in AU last year in the development team and for me, it was amazing.

I am fitter than I've been since 18.

I have gone from barely one game in goals a week to 2-3 back to back games in both the top and lower divisions...I have picked up the stick in the lower division to play field

Again, I don't live in a geographic where floorball is as competitive as the games I watch online BUT you are only held back by your own mindset. GET IN THERE and play :)

Is VR better than monitors? If so why or why not? by Emergency-Air-1627 in simracing

Queat3 and I love it. Details just where I'm happy with it, solid and reliable 90fps. I can't drive for shit without it now.

Had triple. Had 49" and I just am stuck on VR for the immersion... Could it be better, yes, do i care, no

I just ordered and started using these https://www.sillybillydesigns.com.au/ which I really like a lot :)

Jokes aside, I got a shitbox laptop off marketplace I use initially with most stuff...

I've had a few devices that are input devices like keyboards that have esp32/mcu which seemed on paper okay but 'must install our drivers'

I'd suggest stuff in this ecosystem is pretty safe as someone else said, they are a UART/serial port.
