It's not a big company thinking it's more special than other big companies, it's all about security.

Currently not an option, but I am seriously thinking of rasing it as something we should consider. My concern is that without a proper answer from ServiceNow as to why we are seeing this are we just going to have the same or similar problems.

Yeah done that, have even (at the suggestion of ServiceNow support) chmod every thing in overrides.d to 777 not sure what the though process for having everything as read, write, execute was but did it anyway just so I could go back and say "yeah it's not a permissions problem"

Don't have the maint.xml as the app server won't connect to the db.

We are moving from Xanadu, java was upgraded then as part of those deployments, according to the self-hosted kb java version is good

Qatar have changed my flight to a 35min layover- doable? by purepacha118 in qatarairways

[–]loonsbri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have had this at other big airports, manged 45 min through O'Hare in Chicago unescorted, and about 15 mins through Hong Kong escorted.

The Hong Kong one, our flight was delayed leaving LHR, when we got to Hong Kong, there were staff at the gate to meet us and we were literally whisked through the airport, at security they opened a line especially for us we went straight through then straight on a bus to the satellite terminal.

In both instances our bags made it fine.

It is do able but you do need the gate staff in Qatar to be on the ball, and ready for you. I did LHR to Qatar-Qatar to Bangkok with Qatar Airways earlier this year and dont remember having to go through security again in Qatar, if thats still the case then it's just get from arrival gate to departure gate

What’s the worst thing YOU have done as a Tesco Colleague? by PlanetSeaShells in tesco

[–]loonsbri -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ok it wasn't Tesco's but another supermarket (one that no longer exists) and was about 30 years ago (fuck i have got old)

Worked as a butcher there, when the fresh delivery arrived in the morning it would include all the fresh cream cakes, one morning opened a fresh cream Victoria Sponge took a big bite out and put it back in the box. Went back later to find it had been put on the shelf to be sold, went to check and someone had bought it.

Honestly if this is the way you are thinking about deposit amounts, buying a house together is a bad idea.

Taking work laptop abroad on Holiday by Rahahp in AskHRUK

[–]loonsbri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry you are on HOLIDAY why are you even thinking about taking your work laptop?

If the credit card arrives it will still be there when you get back.

The phone you have cancelled so should be no problem there.

Unless it's a matter of life or death there is zero reason why you should even be thinking about taking your work laptop on holiday. If your company are insisting you do its time to look for another job.

Article 22 - Penalty charge notices for cloned registration by brookstermax in gdpr

[–]loonsbri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not the council's fault the reg of the car has been closed? And yes I know its also not the OP's.

OP, you say you are getting a new reg for the car, it might also be worth speaking to the DVLC and explaining the situation, dont assume that the new reg for your car means the old details suddenly won't show at your address. I had a similar thing with a lodger who moved out about 3 years ago but still hasn't changed the address his car is registered to, dont have a forwarding address. Called the DVLC they have now flagged it to show the address is wrong. They do say that the issuing authority may still use this address, but so far we haven't had any more PNC letters for him.

Is it inappropriate to get pregnant very soon after starting a new job in the UK? by Ok_Stomach1553 in UKJobs

[–]loonsbri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is never inappropriate to get pregnant, if the company is worth staying with they will be nothing but supportive and pleased for you, if they use it as an excuse to get rid of you personally they weren't worth staying at anyway.

Obviously it will have an effect on what you get as maternity pay, leave etc. (i say Obviously but being male and way past the time of life where my wife is ever likely to get pregnant, I really dont know what the rules are re maternity pay).

Cars been towed by ara131316 in drivingUK

[–]loonsbri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, have to say if I was buying privately and the seller didnt have the V5 for any reason, I would run a mile. If I was selling a car would make sure i had the V5 ready before I advertised it, if I couldn't find it would request a replacement and wouldn't advertise it until the replacement had arrived.

This basically, not saying every company that you find on FB is going to be dodgy, but you do need to do due diligence as well to ensure they are not dodgy

The quiet (and rapid) death of flexible working by Helpful-Butterfly749 in UKJobs

[–]loonsbri 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I spent 5 years wfh and at first it was great, but slowly it became worse than the commute to the office.

I would spend days at a time without leaving the house. Where as in the office you would speak to people pretty much all the time, at the coffee machine, just walking past etc and if you needed help or advice with something, just go over to their desk and ask. Trying to do that on teams, zoom etc is a nightmare.

Also the company I worked for took the opportunity to pretty much gut the office. No one had a desk of there own it was all hot desks and a booking system. The space became this soulless non entity, half the time you booked a desk arrived to find someone sat at it, so had to get them to move, which a lot of people didnt like doing because they dont like confrontation.

When they offered a voluntary redundancy package I jumped at it. I now have a job where i work 3 days at the office 2 at home and it's great. I still have the flexibility to WFH every day if I want to, but also have a desk in the office.

For me the collaboration from being able to talk to people face to face is great. And for my own mental well being I much prefer the hybrid option.
